Not an expertflyer expert, but what would this one say:

https://www.expertflyer.com/specialclasses.pdf

It lists LH and states, that class selection is not required for the LH queries? Is this a kind of official announcement?

Well, according to ...standard logic, this statement is true without necessarily implying that there is award availability provision in the first place. Given availability provision (the way it works now) you need not select particular classes since the system gives you automatically all availability. Not given award availability provision then the statement is again (trivially) true, since it has nothing to do with the provision:
It rather has to do with the way Expertflyer exchanges information with Sabre, and not with whether LH provides that info to Sabre or not.

That's what I can recall as well. No LH. So probably expertflyer is waiting to see if this is temporary or permanent and then announce it.

Unfortunately, one can't see the date on Google cache. The document is not on web.archive.org either.

Exactly. We updated our Special Classes list to show what is presently viewable on LH. However, we have made a query with someone we know with LH and this appearance of LH award classes on the GDS does not seem to be intentional. Hence we have not made any formal announcement. Enjoy it while it's there.

Hi,

could you tell me what "Class must be specified" means?

Thanks

In the Flight Availability entry screen, there are several boxes that must be entered for a query such as the Departing Airport, etc. However, Class is not one of them. If you leave the Class box blank your query will yield a response showing the inventory for all normal fare classes on the flights. The problem for some airlines, AA is one, is that the Classes that are used for award and upgrade inventory will not be in shown in this case. These award and upgrade classes are "hidden". In these cases, you must explicitly enter the Class letter in the Class box on the Flight Availability entry screen for it to be shown in the response. Only the Class you enter will then be shown in the response.

However, with some airlines the Class need not be specified in the Class box in order to see the specific award or upgrade inventory. LH and QF are an example of these airlines. Our PDF chart therefore indicates when you must explicitly enter the Class in order to see that particular inventory.

Hope this helps.
