Some years ago BRE-FRA sat beside Rudi Carell in C.
Besides hello, I did not say anything, thinking that he could not be bothered (neither can I...). He actually started talking and just would not shut up :D

I asked him in a nice way when he was going to retire and he laughed, mentioned that he was on his way to Vienna for a one-song appearance on a tv show. With that gig came a 3-day stay in a 5 star hotel, free clothes, the flights in C and quite adequate money on top (too much if you ask me... his music su**s imho).

I actually hoped he would shut up at some point but until we left the plane, he kept at it... ah well, was just for an hour.

I guess he was a bit peeved that I never even asked for his autograph...

Beate Uhse in Sen lounge in FRA.
Some German TV actors and reporters going from HAM/BRE to FRA.

- also Günther Jauch, but years ago, long, long before he started that millionaire's show on telly, on LH HAM-FRA in Y. Still recall that since it was my first "celeb" sighting onboard.

- Annett Louisan (is that the way to spell her name?), a German second row pop singer, on a LH early morning HAM-MUC flight in Y two weeks ago (my, that girl is tiny!).

- Prof. Hellmuth Karasek in C en route to HKG from MUC early last year. Guess what, he was reading for the entire flight... :)

- Ralf Teckentrup in C on either FRA-BSL or BSL-FRA about five years ago. We had a short chat on air travel and connections and he mentioned that he worked for LH and how they struggled matching loop rotations and arbitrary connections. Didn't really know who he was by that time but he gave me his card and only months later I read about him in the papers and that they call him "the brain" for his knowledge about LH's longhaul network.

- Justin Timblerlake in the LH Lounge on JFK, me waiting to escape blizzard-hit NYC to FRA, him and his entourage heading somewhere else as they kept seats (and drinking) when my flight was finally called.

- Jerry Seinfeld on an AC (believe that counts, they are *A after all) LGA-YYZ connection in C about three years ago.

- frequently meet German pop music producer and former singer Dieter Bohlen on flights from and to HAM, sometimes accompanied by his girlfriend.

Props! Did George and Kramer pick him up?

Franz Beckenbauer and his wife in front of me at LHR security about 2 hours after Germany beat England 1-0 at Wembley in Oct. 2000. He was a little confused when I congratulated him until I explained I was Irish. :)

The great opera producer Hans Neuenfels in the STR business lounge. It was the day after the successful premier of his new production of 'Don Giovanni' at the Staatsoper.

Tennis Player Dominik Hrbaty in FRA SEN Lounge three years ago.

Never recognised any other celebrities, but then I do not fly that much.

No super celebrities at airports or on flights... but in Feb04 we ran into Claudia Schiffer at the Prada Store in SoHo NYC ... and I also almost collided with Donald Trump on Fifth Av. But that´s nothing special... It´s NY after all!

Flights:
-DJ Ötzi (the horrible Alpen-Techno "Anton aus Tirol" guy) on TXL-VIE.
-Atil Kutoglu (austro-turkish fashion designer) on a JFK-VIE flight, after his Fashion Week show.

At VIE airport throughout the last two years:
-Cordula Reyer (once a famous Austrian supermodel,... now living in LA)
-Richard Lugner and family (the crazy Austrian construction company owner who always invites famous guests to the Opera Ball)
...

Greetings from Austria, Tom

As i was commuting every weekend from MUC to CDG, i once had the luck to be seated to a very nice girl.
I decided to be bold :p and engaged the conversation with her. Needless to say, the flight went far too fast...

Not a *celebrity* as big & famous, but you can check what i mean by nice girl here : http://www.fordmodelseurope.com/FRAM...el=6708&lang=f

Chiara Ohoven on ZRH-DUS in Y on a Friday afternoon, when she went back from boarding school to her boyfriend and family. She's a German C-Class promi which is famous as she said in TV about her "new made" rubberboat-lips that they are absolutely natural and they just look different due to her changed hair color. It was a hard time as she sat next to me and I was always near to laugh about her lips ;)
She and her her fellow students were heavy drinkers at the gate and she was picked up by a assistent at the airport.

Lothar Matthäus, German football player on FRA-QKL in Y, waiting on the platform sitting next to me and talking on his mobile about the interview he will do in the evening in Cologne. When the train arrived he went to the Y compartment and me heading to C (having the good old airrail 80 Eur ticket)

Fred "The Hammer" Langhammer JFK-MUC in paid F. Had a look at his boarding pass while he took his seat. :D
He had 2A and we were in 2 D/G.

I sat next to Sky Dumont and his wife a couple of years ago on a MUC-FRA flight. Many people were asking for autographs, while Patrick Lindner went almost unnoticed on the flight. ^

Once, I was one a STR-HAM flight with the VfB Stuttgart football team and a few months later on a flight STR-TXL with its new president, Erwin Staudt. Had a short talk to him waiting at the gate about the latest game.

A few weeks ago I was waiting for another flight when I heard that Mr Assauer, the Schalke Manager, was paged to board his airplane. http://www.sportal.de/nncs/fussball/.../12/97311.html

On my last flight FRA-JFK in March we had LL COOL J in First.

Sitting in row 4 next to me was a bodyguard with a gun (very reassuring feeling) ;) I assumed he belonged to LL COOL J so I asked him why they weren't traveling in their own private jet. I'm mean you see these all the time in his videos and I'm pretty sure he can afford one or two :D

The bodyguard's answer: "We were supposed to go to Kosovo, but that got cancled so now we're heading back to NYC." LL COOL J going to Kosovo??!!

I was quite puzzeled until I found out the guy next to me was the bodyguard of the Deputy Secretary-General of the U.N., Mrs. Louise FRÉCHETTE!

Sometimes, with too many VIPs on one flight, it really becomes quite confusing :D Later I found out that LL COOL J's entourage/bodyguards had joined him in First.

P.S. Interesting to see was the different treatment upon arrival at JFK. Mrs. Fréchette was greeted by an NYPD officer and escorted away immediately, LL COOL J and gang had to wait in line at immigration. No special treatment what so ever.

Oct. 2003, Franziska van Almsick, on CPT - FRA in C
