EU261 compensation/duty of care expectations- Lufthansa

I've had a Frankfurt to Bristol flight cancelled with less than 14 days notice. I'm assuming LH will play hard ball with EU261 claims, whether the reason is valid for compensation or not.. but does anyone know a way to find out the particular reason when I inevitably get the rejection? The flight doesn't appear on ExpertFlyer and Lufthansa won't reply to Twitter messages asking for the reason - funnily enough they're really quick at replying to everything else.

The flight was from Prague to Bristol via Frankfurt. I now have a forced overnight at FRA. Are Lufthansa generally good at giving out hotels or is that another uphill battle? I plan to stop by the transfer desk at FRA as I'm sure they'll be more versed in that procedurally. Then again should I assume that!!

Thanks!

The cancellation may be down to restrictions FRA have imposed due to the current difficulties & therefore that would be extraordinary & beyond LH control.
LH ought to provide a hotel voucher at the transfer counter.

Yeah, the compensation isn't a big deal.. more concerned about duty of care.

Thanks for the response!

If there is a better same day itinerary on any day, you can of course also switch to it for free.
