The programme will now change from 1 January 2022 (postponed again and it will not start before 2023)
https://www.miles-and-more.com/row/e...ts/update.html

All the changes are listed on the official M&M Website: https://www.miles-and-more.com/de/en...ts/update.html

Starting 2021, the system for earning status changes. From then on, status points are earned by cabin and segment flown:

Regional flights will earn 5 points in Economy and Premium Economy, 10 points in First and Business class per segment
Intercontinental flights, ie flights between two IATA regions, will earn 15 points in Economy, 20 in Premium Economy, 50 in Business and 70 in First class segments

There will be two kinds of points : qualifying points (QP): earned with M&M integrated partners (LH/EW/LX/OS/LO/OU/LG/etc) and normal points : earned with other partners like the airlines in the Star Alliance. QP can be earned on LH Airrail train segments, but are capped at 40/120/250 per year for FTL/SEN/HON.

'Frequent Traveler' (FTL, equivalent to *S) status is given to members with 160 points (of which atleast 80 need to be QP), 'Senator' (SEN, *G) to members with 480 points (of which atleast 240 need to be QP). HON Circle (HON) is awarded after reaching 1500 QP in one year.

SEN will receive two evouchers upon qualification each year, HON 4 evouchers. There will be no rollover of QP, but for members who exceed the qualification QP level, M&M will grant the following benefits:
FTL: Mileage exchange for QP at 200 qualifying points
SEN: 2 eVoucher at 700 qualifying points; 15,000 award miles at 1,000 qualifying points; Frequent Traveller partner card at 1,300 qualifying points
HON:2 eVoucher at 1,800 qualifying points; 30,000 award miles at 2,100 qualifying points; 2 eVoucher at 2,400 qualifying points; Frequent Traveller partner card at 2,700 qualifying points; Senator partner card at 3,000 qualifying points

The system of status miles, HON Circle miles, select miles, and status star points will be abolished at the end of 2020. Any status earned prior to that will be honored. Any HON Circle miles earned in 2020 will be credited as QP in the ratio 200:1. Status star points earned till end of 2020 will converted to lifetime QP at a ration of 2:1.

Members with a lifetime QP of 7500 will be awarded FTL for their lifetime. If members reach 10000 lifetime QP and have been SEN for at least a cumulative 10 years they will be awarded lifetime SEN status.

Status is always valid for the year of qualification and one additional year. HON and SEN will have a 'soft landing' ie if they cannot requalify for status, they will get a year of SEN or FTL respectively.

Yes, that lovely *G barn at WAW, where LO managed to beat RyanAir in terms of the number of seats per square meter squeezed in. And not to mention the lovely bathrooms...

Well, they say that according to simulations they ran, this is a very close approximation on how most members end up...

I somehow doubt they have many 50k/year average SENs except those who were purposefully gaming the system (and why reward those?). And while your 500k mile / 2 years SEN will probably not be the happiest, well, if the same activity still exists, and it's not largely on non-LH carriers (in which case, again, why reward?) they'd soon find themselves to be happy HONs.

All in all, I guess there will be some disappointed people on FT and VFT, but the numbers of those are simply insignificant to LH.

Is Sen Partner Award staying under new rules?
If yes - new program may lure me into making HON

The female bathrooms are very nice. With little hand towels and cosmetic products placed by the cosmetic brand they have a deal with. What bathroom are you using?

Do I understand correctly that 2021 and 2022 are useless (e.g. no additional eVouchers) and 2023 is time when we should think of renewing the status?

I do see the merits of the new M & M going forward. But at the same time, LH should assess the transitional rules to avoid extreme cases that I and others have highlighted. This is more than “disappointment” but a matter of rewarding past loyalty over an extended period of time—brand loyalty is the objective of the M & M reform after all. I still have to do the math, but I may be better off to build on my UA lifetime miles from the 80s and 90s to achieve lifetime gold status there than pursuing this sharply devalued path with LH with limited business trips left. I wonder if LH has done simulations on how the transitional rules will effect some markets, like the US or Asia, with their many carriers.

The men’s room that is more or less in the lounge/corridor in the back. Hasn’t seen maintenance since the fall of the iron curtain, it seems. I don’t need the cosmetics, just a clean bathroom would be nice...

Just received a physical letter in the mail informing me about the changes. Letterhead even reads November 12th. That was quick and slightly strange...

Having already requalified till Feb 2023, I find it annoying that they do not count the status star points for the period 1.1. 20 till Feb 2023 towards lifetime SEN. After all I have already kind of earned them. Means I need to fly even more than I thought to finally reach LT SEN.

Well, I should get it by the age of 43 which is still better than 65

I think so. I will also requalify in 2020, and again in 2023. I fear by that time rules might get "simplified" again

Gender being the fluid concept that it is and not at all based on appearance, I use the female bathrooms without any hassle from anyone.

I guess they will cease to offer one-year SEN extension for EUR 2,000 or one-year FTV extension for EUR 500 ?

Totally agree. My requalification SEN years are 2019-2020. And I am seriously considering not doing much effort in 2020 to renew. I´d be obviously downgraded to FTL on 28.02.21, but within the first months of 2021 I´d requalify again with no major problems under the new rules.

I´d safe some 5K euros in 2020 (I already have 40000 status miles bookings for 2020) and earn at least 480 QP for LT-SEN in 2021 (which would otrherwise be a "dead" year if I requalified in 2020 for the period 2021-2022)
