Well, related question. Have a flight in C coming up, supposedly on 330-300. Had booked a throne seat but when I checked today, seat reservation gone and seat config shows as 2-2-2 with 5 rows. Is Brussels Airlines wet leasing planes?

SN acquired a few former CX and SQ A330 last year, which will be refurbished with a newer C once the decision is taken/announced. Till then you can enjoy the better CX seat or suffer the slippery slope of regional SQ. Note that these A330 are mostly deployed to routes where SN has a monopoly (Central Africa).
Since SN is also responsible for the EW longhaul fleet, the new C offering will probably be a hybrid of the existing Thompson Vantage they have since 2012 and the B/E Diamond they inherited with the LH A330s operating from DUS. The new Recaro seat picked to be the standard LH/LX/OS business class seat starting 2020 is probably not ready to be installed in the SN/EW fleet. OTOH it probably has the STC for the A330 already because TP has installed in their new A339...

As a semi-frequent SN business class flyer (8 business class flights to Africa per year), I welcome the improvement.
I guess this is the same seat as LX, so certainly understand that they opted for the commonality among the family members.
I was hoping for more drastic change (more in line with their parent's new LH seat) but this is pretty good considering LH's cold feet against SN.
As a UA *G, I hope they do not adopt LX's draconian seat assignment restriction for non HON/Senator member.

AFAIR the standardisation was supposed to be across LX/LH/OS and SN. Now it seems they are keeping SN the same seat as new LX. Maybe this will enable them to move LX aircraft over to SN
