Thank you, Fellow Expat - you should, however, be grateful to the business that kindly pays for my tickets and indeed to all those passengers who seem to be enjoying LOT's Business & Premium Economy week-in and week-out (based on those services I normally travel on e.g. LHR quite often recently due to HQ commitments, there seems to be a good number of regulars at the front of the bus) Long may it last?

Fair enough. Makes sense, especially as using Regional Jet they have in essence leased 5 CRJ’s from Nordica.

OK, considering LOT Polish is owned by the Polish Government it is state aid. Totally forgot that part... with the latest Alitalia news (>15% will be held by IT govt) what airlines are still owned by the state in the EU?
I have the following off the top of my head:
Croatian: https://www.croatiaairlines.com/Abou...ship-structure
Nordica: https://www.nordica.ee/en/about-the-...tevoete-en-us/
Tarom
Luxair: https://www.luxairgroup.lu/shareholders

98% Of CSA belongs to 'Travel Service' who also operates QS/Sunwings and is 49.9% owned by a Chinese investor. The CZ state sold its 20% stake to QS some time ago and QS bought KE's 40%stake in 2016.
TP was on track to be mostly divested by the PT govt but the demise of the HNA goup put a stop to those plans.
Montenegro is in the EU?

I recall a weekend trip with my brother to CDG (using his 'LOT dla Firm' points) and we were given glasses in Premium. Load was low, though (2 C / 2 W outbound, 1 C / 2 W inbound - these 2 W were us, of course).

Ah ok, I thought with TP it was a change of government that caused it to be majority owned by the state again.
I couldn’t find who owns Travel Service.
Does Slovakia have a flag carrier?
Having done a tour of the EU in my head, I can’t think of any others that are state owned. KLM is with AF, Aer Lingus is now part of IAG, Adria is now also privitised, as is OA of Greece. Lithuania hasn’t had any luck with airlines not going bankrupt, BT seem to be filling the gap. Hungary and Cyprus lost theirs completely due to state aid rulings by the EU. With Cyprus, I think A3 filled the void partially at least.

Fair enough. I think CS filled the void and was maybe still there as a result of the split. I think since they’ve joined the EU, they’ve used the open market in order to profit from LCC’s based there. I believe FR had a base there for a while.

Interesting piece of LO IT, when looking for a trip to see what my options are, on a LO codeshare of an SAS flight the operator was “Regional Jet for Scandinavian Airlines” ( caps may be involved somewhere) but it’s only EE when it’s for a LO flight.
