Not the painting, no, but they would have to have first reached agreement on a deal to display the Skytrax mark on their aircraft. That takes more than a couple of days.

As a hesitant J FF on LH, I just wanted to chime in: this is hilariously embarrassing not just for Skytrax, but for LH actually advertising this.
There's no way that any frequent flyer would take this 5 star rating seriously.

An article in yesterdays (WE 6 Dec 2017) "Handelsblatt" (a German paper itself) entitled "Herr der Sterne" states that Skytrax & its chief Edward Plaisted is challenged due to insufficient transparency in its ratings.
Further it mentions prominent airline consultants in Germany saying that the rating can be bought.

For sure it can be bought. And probably not that cheap. Now I understand why LH has to save money by cutting down on services. Better invest it into the rating.
Releasing press releases and even painting planes for such a farce is imho awkward. Every frequent flyer knows that LH is a solid 4*, but never a 5* Airline.

Does LH lose this designation now that it plans to charge for food/drinks in Y on short haul? It should.

Skytrax has found a new business line by certifying/rating airlines on covid response... I doubt they will touch any rating of any airline for quite some time. Curious what they will do with QR now that C pax don't get to use all services depending on their fare class.
