More or less FCO - HNL - FCO - DUS - LCY - OTP - DUS on four Tickets with a "few" stops in between. I only need to be careful not to credit to LH any more to receive my downgrade on February 29 to receive my upgrade after my first flight in March.
We actually started in Rome on January 1 at 6 AM with the flight from FC0 to ZRH. One leisure trip in first class and three business trips in business class and the mission was accomplished. Total expenditure close to 7000 Euro.
Next mission will be DUS - DXB - BKK - SYD - OOL - SYD - DXB - DUS all under Qantas flight number but more or less all operated by Emirates in first class to renew my BA executive gold membership and to do some work downunder. Costs for that again in the range of 7000 Euro.

But that still does not answer the question why to first wait for the downgrade on March 1st before you renew

This is the second year of my two year period - I was qualified as SEN to Feb 17. An F class on SQ CDG/SYD in February and an F class on LX AMS/BKK in March gave me about 104k miles for a cost of EUR 11,300. Requalifed to Feb 2019. Travel now switched to QR and other Oneworld to maintain my Emerald status.
