DUS-MIA-DUS this winter ??

Does anyone know what happened to DUS-MIA this winter?

warakorn Dec 15, 2013 10:24 pm

On a somewhat related note I am now waiting since 4 weeks to hear from Germanwings for my rebookings on the canceled GVA-TXL. I had made suggestions to be rebooked on LH, but the only thing offered was a refund and telling me i should book Easyjet (which is now more than double the price already). Will wait a bit more but very bad experience.
I do not think that Germanwings will proactively come back to you.
Have you got it in written by Germanwings that you shoud book on Easyjet?
If yes, maybe you could book on Easyjet and claim back the entire price back from Germanwings. Most likely you need to sue Germanwings (Mahnbescheid, Klage).

Lufthansa New/Cancelled Routes and Changes

They remain very vague overall, saying in written 'book the cheapest alternative and we'll consider a refund'. I have requested clarification and they said they would cover up to CHF 1,000 extra cost for a total of 8 tickets. Given the bookings were over holiday long weekends and the back and forth has gone on for a while this will not suffice. I have booked alternatives on LH and sent them the tickets, will keep everybody posted.

One thing is for sure, if a route is changed from LH to Germanwings then this is no longer the same...but why would I be surprised that the Marketing talk is misleading ? I am also wondering if being a SEN makes no difference, or if 'normal' pax are treated even worse.

Cancelled in August according to airline route

Update at 0400GMT 05AUG13 (Error in schedule listing corrected at 0525GMT)

Lufthansa has confirmed the cancellation of Dusseldorf – Miami Winter 2013/14 operation, as the Star Alliance member removed the schedule of 5 weekly service last week. LH since late-May 2013 closed reservation for discounted fares, while accepting reservations in full-fare booking class (F/J/Y/B).

The following was operational schedule for Winter 2012/13 season

LH466 DUS1215 – 1645MIA 343 x13
LH467 MIA1835 – 0930+1DUS 343 x13

Let me say it that way. Your rights are very clear. Germanwings must rebook you onto the next available flight option for TXL-GVA. This is according to EC261/2004. The 14-day rule does not apply here.

Germanwings seems to rather force a refund onto you, because it is cheaper for them. You dont have to accept it.
To be successful in court, you must prove:
1) That you have requested a free rebooking, state a 14 day deadline (you need a proof of delivery)
2a) That Germanwings has refused to rebook
OR
2b) That Germanwings broke the deadline and did not rebook

Now, you can book new tickets (cheapest available) and claim the price for the new ticket.
Also here you need to request this money, state a 14 day deadline (you again need a proof of delivery)

Only after Germanwings breaks that deadline, you can sue Germanwings / Thomas Winkelmann in Cologne District Court.

Since you are talking about a party 8, the amount will be very high, so its worth it sueing them.

I think soon the NRT operations via KIX will be dropped for good.

Yipee! More options for me for flights to TYO. ^

Code:

Germany-Japan schedule from 30.03.2014

Tokyo-Haneda (HND)
LH716 (NH5854) Frankfurt 18.20 – Haneda 12.15+1
LH717 (NH5853) Haneda 14.05 – Frankfurt 18.45

LH714 (NH5852) Munich 15:45 – Haneda 10:05+1
LH715 (NH5851) Haneda 11.50 – Munich  16.55

NH224 (LH7242) Frankfurt 20.45 – Haneda 14.55+1
NH223 (LH7243) Haneda 11.25 – Frankfurt 16.35

NH204 (LH7236) Frankfurt 12.10 – Haneda 06.35+1
NH203 (LH7237) Haneda 00.55 – Frankfurt 06.05

NH276 (LH7244) Munich 21.25 – Haneda 15.50+1
NH275 (LH7245) Haneda 12.35 – Munich 17.20

Tokyo-Narita (NRT)

LH740 (NH6006) Frankfurt 13.05 – Osaka 06.55+1 – Narita 08:55
LH741 (NH6005) Narita 10:25 – Osaka 13:15 – Frankfurt 18.00

NH942 (LH7240) Dusseldorf 18.35 – Narita 13.00+1
NH941 (LH7241) Narita 11.00 – Dusseldorf 16.00

Interesting they decided to extend the FRA-KIX service to NRT and NH's new service from DUS is going to NRT rather than HND. NH had better do something to increase the capacity of the lounges at HND.

I'm very excited about this too. The Narita Express, while being a lovely train and all, is absolute hell after a 12 hour flight. Being 15 minutes from Shinagawa with direct access to the Shinkansen will make my life much easier.
And now I don't need to overnight in Narita the evening before my flight :D

Currently I have to overnight in MAN as well as NRT unless I'm flying on NH210/NH203. Later departure times from both Europe and Tokyo will probably mean the end of my Hilton Gold status.

If it means not sleeping at the Hilton in Narita, I think it's a good deal. Stupid overpriced hotel in the middle of nowhere.
