Also MUC-PVG goes A380 instead of HKG starting January 2020. The first two months of W19/20 it will be operated by A359 instead of A346.

LH GLA to MUC - direct flight not showing up for winter
I'm trying to book LH GLA to MUC in November of this year but I'm only getting the option of travelling GLA-FRA-MUC. The direct flight seems to disappear from early October onwards. Does anyone know if this means that the direct flight is being dropped?

Not early but late Oct, last flight is Oct 26 then it’s in the bin.
EDI continues twice a week on Tue and Sat.
I didn’t have any doubts this was a seasonal flight. Sometimes the FRA and MUC departures were like 20 mins apart so for me it was basically which ever is cheapest, normally MUC. Helga can’t be doing well with that.
Comes back for summer on 29 March.

Thanks a lot - that's what I suspected.
It's made my life so much easier having the direct route (after years of flying BA via LHR) but I had noticed that a lot of the winter flights were really empty, so I suppose it makes sense from LH's perspective.

BOS-MUC route
The Munich to Boston route went from an A350 to an older but bigger A340-600 this year. Since LH has A380s based at MUC, are the chances even remotely possible that business on the route is good enough for it to go to that?

A A380 to BOS? - not even a remote chance! There are other routes with higher payloads (pax and cargo) that the A380 is more appropriate for (LAX, JFK, SFO, MIA comes into mind, however not BOS)

But in contrast to the A350, the A346 has an F cabin, which is essentially identical with the A380. I would fly the A346 to BOS in a heartbeat.

Not exactly new routes, but BOS and SFO (all year) will be new destinations served by the 380s out of MUC when two more 380s are transferred from FRA to MUC:

Let's hear it for all the people who screamed 'NO!' on the A380 to Boston idea. Wicked Smaht people.
