no worries Chris, he did. I took it to the hotel and finished it at the bar there.

Takes BYOW to a whole new level…

Jokes aside, we should never be in this “hoping for better” or letter-writing situation. When I buy a $8-$12k ticket, I’m not looking to write/complain about a “free” $150 bottle of Champagne. They obviously have lost the plot and people should vote with their wallets, if they can.

Well this talk about BYOW made me think if LH is slowly preparing us to bring our own champers or wine (e.g. from duty free) and then charge corkage fee onboard - voila, new revenue stream . (Kidding - I hope )

Finally received a response to my feedback on the March Wine list in F, it’s the result of a tender and blind tastings by a panel of internal & external Wine experts……

A response written by someone who can probably just about distinguish red from white wine .

Well, the question remains, what makes an expert an expert?

Judging from the March Wine list, hard to imagine any expert holding their hands up to that result

Given that Lufthansa receives many more complaints regarding champagne, I think their ‘expert selection process’ is a very lame excuse.

it’s also interesting to note that they do not believe that the money available for the expert panel should match ticket prices.

Especially champagne is chosen based on the purchasing price, which is not the same as the listing price. Airlines buy champagne based on compensation deals. Promotion in exchange for price reduction. That means that champagne is chosen by its promotion budget.

Airlines want to serve the same wine on many flights. It’s much more easy to find 12 bottles of a good wine than purchasing 12,000 bottles of a good wine.

Champagne and wine taste different in a plane on cruising altitude than on the ground. Same for food. It’s really difficult to find the right corresponding champagne or wine for a meal on a plane.

And despite that F is booked 8/8 all the time. That’s why I am worried that nothing will change, they are getting away with it.

not every flight but a lot indeed. this particular flight was 2 pax booked end of Jan, when I bought my ticket. 4 pax upgraded and one sear could not be sold because it was broken. therefore: .max 3 cash paying pax. 4 upgrades (with instrumens).
