Finally... no more expensive LH hotline numbers in Germany

Just read it on the LH webpage.

LH is phasing out the 018x numbers that cost a fortune. They will be replaced by local 069 (Frankfurt) numbers.

Sorry the link below is available in German only:

That appears to be just the general hotline. How about FTL/SEN/HON numbers? Any rumours?

The article says that numbers for status customers will be changed to 069 numbers, too. I just logged into M&M and the numbers haven't been updated yet (at least the SEN #). However, the internet hotline number has been changed already. I guess we'll need just a little more patience...

HON already has a Frankfurt 069 number. And previously it was a 01803 number, which is at local rates from anywhere IIRC

Not from many (if not all) countries outside Germany.

Not to mention if you are calling from a mobile phone...

Which is what I have to do 9 out of 10 times (because I am sitting in a car or waiting in/trying to avoid a stupid queue at an airport.

Would be really the case to extend this outside Germany. The "low cost" airline treatment is dated now.

Almost everybody in Germany has free calls to landline numbers ("Festnetz free") but of course those "Service-" numbers are excluded from that. And that means, even though it's not that much, I have 5 - 10 € of those "Service-" numbers on my phone bill every month.

With a 069xx number, those calls would be completey free, even from my mobile. Good invention, LH ^^^

Not much longer use of a 0180 LH number ...

Just read that LH decided to replace the general hotline in Germany 01805-805.805 with a fixed line 069-86799799, due to problems implementing a required legal/technical change.
Anyone familiar with a new SEN hotline number ?

BTW, I can see a 069 number for the SEN Service now. I won't publish it here, but for those who can look it up - it made me smile. And I am 100% sure that LH didn't think about it at all when they chose this particular number

The reason for the standard numbers is not because LH wants to play nice.

Following recent regulation, waiting times when calling call centers must be free of charge. Lucky for us, this is a major problem with the current telecommunication systems. Therefore LH (and apparently many other companies) are switching over to standard numbers to conform with regulations.

I have no doubt that they will switch back to the "service lines" once technologically possible and announce that move as a great step towards better service quality because now, finally, following frequent customer request, hold times during a call would be free of charge...

HTB.

You could also avoid paying for the 0180 numbers before by looking up the corresponding regular phone number at www.0180.info
