I have sometimes been the offending party, e.g. once on a Japanese train. The conductor was very polite but very strict. Once in HND I saw a Japanese businessman being escorted to the phone booth. The lady was very polite but very strict. I wish there more people like that in lounges around the globe.

I fear the day when cell phones can be freely used on planes.

And this would never hold true for:
An American
A Texan
Greek
Scandanavians (particularly after 2 beers)
Brazilians
Chinese (bonus for cantonese or Mandarin)
Flyertalkers- specifically the ones who got a free upgrade from a United SWU they received through the Coupon Connection

I find the stereotyping in this thread a bit unclassy.

Each individual is different.

we can also add spaniards into the list...but the image I have of italians, in a beach of a remote place, shouting to a telefonino in areas where there was not coverage yet, is unforgettable.

If you had time to burn and not much to do, this could have been interesting. Watching the Italian as if it were a live play on stage, adding up how much the American will stuff in himself to then brag how he "maximised" his experience, and then further amusement provided by two disgruntled suits who think the place should resemble a library.

I'd love a lounge experience like that.

No, the American must have "maximized" his experience.

You haven't been in a library recently, have you?

That's right. Or rather, "Roget that."

As for libraries, the last time I've been to one was in Bali. It even had a name, Luxury Collection (aka Sheraton). Definitely preferred the Hard Rock Hotel as I prefer to stay at hotels, hot libraries. ^

As a good (Italian) friend of mine once said - the easiest way to shut an Italian up is to tie his hands together.

I'll leave it up to you guys to test it out.

Or Eastern Europeans shouting into their mobiles on the Tube, presumably ordering increases in energy prices to the rest of Europe.

what is with no disrespect supposed to mean?

I am Italian. I don't shout on the phone. and I don't wear bermuda shorts and baseball caps in ANY airport, let alone lounge.

It is interesting how we stereotype each other. Fortunately I am English so immune from everything as everyone hates us and it is their problem not ours. So what if we had an Empire, it was the done thing back in the day.
