According to this Spiegel article, LH will start flights from Munich to New York on the A380 in December... (can't see in the system, so I assume Spohr is already talking about December 2012...)

The previous sentence is about starting service from DUS to Tokio and New Delhi in summer 2012, so it seems that the A380 is scheduled for the same year, but winter.

How that???? A340-600 has 8 F seats in a 1-2-1 configuration and B747-400 has 8 F seats in this new 1-1 configuration...

Interesting that they are adding another flight to Tokyo. It makes sense because the area surrounding DUS is said to have the highest concentration of Japanese in Europe and NH already runs a free shuttle bus service between FRA and Düsseldorf. JV with NH may be behind this decision.

It would be interesting if the service makes use of the available (nighttime) slots in HND, though it would mean arrival or departure (or both) at some unearthly hours.

Just an observation that LH has these days more restrictions on F class award redemption on the B744 than the A346 assuming that the B744s has better chance of having the new first class than the A346

As per the news release in german they will operate the flight for one week, which I think they will survive with that especially during the festivities shopping season, given the fact that the euro won't weak more.

Longer than that period I am sure they will post a huge loss on their year end financial statements
