Thumbs up Encounter Restaurant

I was driving by LAX tonight, well past my usual dinner time, and on a whim I decided to go check out the Encounter theme restaurant. I went once, way back many years ago when it first opened after the Disney makeover, and remember being impressed with the atmopshere but underwhelmed by the food and the prices.

Well, the atmosphere is slightly watered down (it's clear they haven't maintained the place to Disney standards), but my opinion of the food and prices has definitely changed. My meal was delicious, the service at the bar was attentive and friendly, and the price was very reasonable. I was also pleasantly surprised at how busy the place was, especially given all the construction going on around it and the poor signage on the airport to locate the place.

In short, I recommend it!

I'm glad you liked it!

I think it is overpriced and would rather dine at the Proud Bird down the street or at Daily Grill in TBIT

Now, now. To each their own. I like Encounter. It's not great, but then none of them are right around LAX. It is a convenient place to meet, especially if someone doesn't have time or transport to PB. Also, I think anyplace near an airport is going to have slightly higher prices. Food's decent; same w/ service. When the scaffolding isn't around some good views. I still keep it 'in the mix' when meeting people at LAX.

Speaking of which - when the heck are they going to be done with the scaffolding? If the place is safe enough to open up again, what's taking so long?

Cheers.
