The food isn't bad, it just not great. But it's a fun place to go if you have time to kill at LAX.

If you go, stick to basics-- hamburgers, fries, etc. The menu is too fancy and ambitious for their own good so skip anything that has complicated sauces or too many parts. The drinks are well poured.
It's worth it just for fun.

I was just there a week ago w/ mileageaddict, who had been re-routed through LAX & had an hour to meet at Encounter (original plan was for me to pick him up & take him to MB, but his flight was delayed, so we went w/ Encounter). We ate at the bar. He had the ahi & raved above it. I had spring roll which was also quite good.
I parked in T7 as it's only a few feet farther than the valet & cost a couple $$ less (and because I couldn't quite remember the turn-off to get me to valet LOL).
Cheers.
