Beach Hotel

Hi all

I am searching for a Hotel directly on the Beach. Could be from Malibu down to San Diego but best would be within 45 Mts drive from LAX. I am looking for a room with direct and best views to the pacific, with inroom fireplace and really romantic setting. Money is not a issue. Can someone help to find the best place?

Thanks
Alexander

Have you tried the Malibu Beach Inn? www.malibubeachinn.com While I haven't stayed there personally, I have friends who have & have visited it-it's VERY pretty & you certainly can't get much closer to the beach!

You might try Casa de Mar in Santa Monica. Not sure about the fireplaces though. If you are willing to travel as far as San Diego maybe you should consider going north to Santa Barbara. Many romantic places just south of S.B.

That is a really large area to cover. Here in Santa Monica, Case Del Mar and Shutters are the two nicest places to stay right on the ocean, but the beach is quite large and there are lots of people going back and forth. Perhaps check out the Luguna Niguel area? It is one of the more resort-like/removed upscale beach areas I have visited out here. The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel is right on the beach and very nice.

While I have not stayed here, I have heard good things about Casa Luguna as a B&B. And if you check out the website, they have fireplaces!

I'm not sure about the fireplaces, but the Montage in S Laguna is spectacular!

Not on a beach, but right on the water is the Portofino in Redondo Beach...http://www.hotelportofino.com. Close to LAX too.

My favorite beach hotel period, but not within 45 minutes of LAX is the Montage. See Review of Montage Resort and Spa in Laguna Beach

Great Beach Hotel

The Montage is by far the nicest down here in OC.
But those prices will just melt you down.
Nice suites have a comma in the price !

We stayed here a couple weeks ago.

Its a 4 Star. Really nice. Great service.
We got a Catalina Suite with a large private Patio.
Great room. Nice people. G/F loved the Spa/Facial
Half the price of the Montage.
They are about 2/3rds done with a major facelift on this property.
Nice private beach and not bad restaurant called Splashes

Agree that Surf and Sand in Laguna is a terrific beach hotel. You can practically fall out of your room onto the sand. The beach is lovely. I haven't stayed in a suite, but have stayed in ocean-view rooms, all of which had a large private patio. Lot of bang for the buck at the Surf and Sand.

Another vote for Montage. The Ritz is nice, too.
