Taxi/Uber/Lyft/Opoli/TNCs pickups move from Upper Level to LAX-it (east of Terminal 1, follow Lime Green Signs or take green LAX-it shuttles on Lower Level Inner Curb)

Taxi(only) in addition to LAX-it, taxis can also be picked up inside parking structure 3 (between TBIT & Terminal 3, lower level) and at the far end of Terminal 7 (outside baggage claim); if there are no taxis in the rank, there is a sign with a number to call to request one

Hotel/Private Parking Shuttles move from Lower Level to Upper Level (Red Signs)

FlyAway (Light Blue Signs) and all LAWA buses (A - Airline Connector, C - LAX City Bus Center, E - Lot E, M - Green Line, X - Employee parking) move from Lower Level Outer Island to Lower Level Inner Curb (Pink/Magenta Signs)

Shared Ride Vans (e.g. Super Shuttle), Charter Buses, and Scheduled Buses/Shuttles (Antelope Valley, Central Coast, Mickey's Space Ship, Santa Barbara Airbus, Shuttle One, Shuttle 2000, Ventura County Airporter) move and consolidate to Lower Level Outer Island Curbs (Orange Signs)

Rental Car Shuttles move to different locations on the Lower Level Outer Island Curbs (Purple Signs)

TCP (Limos/Uber Black/Lyft Lux Black) and Personal Vehicles (e.g. a friend you coerced into picking you up) move from Lower Level Inner Curb to the Lower Level Outer Island Curb (White Zones/Painted Curbs)

I'm pretty sure LAX does have transponders, at least on the lower (pickup) level-- years ago I was talking to a Supershuttle driver who said they're charged per loop around the horseshoe, with a 3 loop limit. I think they already had transponders then. I've also noticed that my Fastrak beeps when I leave the horseshoe (though it doesn't show up on my bill).

(A little bit of googling before I hit "submit reply" verifies that they do require transponders on vehicles that do pickups on the lower level.)

That's funny - I noticed my Fastrak beeped there the other day also. I keep it in my glove box when I don't expect to use it, but I heard the beep on entering the horseshoe on the departures level.

UberPool from LAX to Burbank

I'm flying to LAX on Monday night and heading to Burbank, what are the odds I will be able to use UberPool at that hour and in that direction?

I'm traveling on my own dime for a meeting with a company that only barely exists and trying to keep costs under control on this mostly speculative endeavour.

Pretty slim; Uber, or Lyft for that matter, are still not permitted to pick passengers up at LAX. You'd have to take a hotel or parking shuttle to get off airport property before you'd be able to use the app to request a ride.

Off the top of my head, your cheapest option is likely to be taking the FlyAway bus to Van Nuys and Uber it from there. Another possibility, and I'm not sure of the schedule, is to take the FlyAway bus to Union Station and Metrolink (Ventura or Antelope Valley lines) from there to Burbank.

Oh I see, UberPool is only for UberX. That never occurred to me.

Are you sure it was not Uber SUV or Uber XL? It could have been a rogue Uber driver or one that also has a livery license; UberX has yet to receive approval from the city to pick passengers up at LAX.

It was Uber Black, I just didn't know that UberPool was limited to UberX only when I asked the question.

Lyft can pick up at LAX starting 12/23/15

Lyft can pick you up at LAX starting Wednesday

<snip>

Just in time for the holiday traveling crush, Lyft's low-cost drivers can begin picking up travelers at 8 a.m. Wednesday, City Hall officials announced. The agreement is a coup for Lyft, which will be the only ride-share company picking up at LAX during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.

<snip>

The Silicon Valley company's main competitor, Uber, has not yet received the green light for its drivers to pick up at the airport. An Uber representative did not return a request seeking comment on when the company expects to begin operating at LAX.

Passengers will be able to hail a ride using Lyft's smartphone app, then follow signs marked "ride service" to the upper departures level, where drivers will be waiting. The company originally opposed the upper-level requirement because riders will have to carry their luggage upstairs from baggage claim.

Lyft Drivers Now Legally Allowed To Pick Up, Drop Off Passengers At LAX

<snip>

Starting at 8 a.m., drivers were able to begin picking up travelers from the upper departure level of the airport, just in time for the busy holiday season.

<snip>

Passengers who request a ride from the airport will be charged a $4 fee to use the ride sharing service.
