Day in LA

Have a day to spare in LA. Other than places like Hollywood Boulevard, Warner Bros. Studio Tour and Amusement Parks and shopping, what's there to do in LA?

Got a car so don't mind travelling out for day trip.

Actually planned to go to Universal Studio on that day, but decided that we are not too interested in that after all, so thinking of something else to do.

Preferably some landmarks to visit (though can only thinking of like the Hollywood Sign and Hollywood Boulevard we have already planned for) or some place nice to visit and have a look.

Where to take out of town visitors in LA: 15 mini-trips for tourists

Los Angeles is unlike any other major city. Hollywood alone offers the Walk of Fame and iconic theaters as well as horseback riding and relaxing hikes. But if you're an Angeleno, you already know this. The real question is: How do we show our holiday visitors this harmonious mix of nightlife, culture and nature in just a few days?

That's why we asked you, our listeners: What are the best places to take tourists in L.A.? Your feedback ranged from favorite food spots to hidden museums and well-known landmarks. And the best part: You offered a slew of tips for navigating our sprawling landscape.

Here's everything you need to know to show your visiting friends and family a fantastic time. (Click on the map links to plan your trip.)

Depends on time of day and how much you want to drive, but I'm partial to the Page Museum (the tar pit museum) and Mt. Wilson (the snack bar at the top opens this weekend for the season), but there's a more or less infinite amount of stuff to do, much listed in its own thread.

If you're already planning on visiting hollywood blvd. and the sign, you might be interested in driving Mulholland as well. Here's a little guide posted by the city:

I do a modified "An Auto Tour From Hollywood" for visitors sometimes and it's always been a hit. The view from the overlook is one of my favorite things to show people.
