Which LA hotel?

Good or bad, we've been spoiled by some of the nice hotels in Vegas like Encore and Bellagio. Now we yearn for a nice hotel with modern decor when we go down to LA this Christmas. 3 nights, probably gonna spend one day at Disney Land but spend the other time at Rowland Heights and maybe a visit to Long Beach and Hollywood.

We used to stay in downtown LA since it was central and close to the freeway. The Westin Bonaventure though just feels too old for our taste now. Do you guys have any recommendations for a newer, more modern hotel? Preferably between the triangle of downtown, Rowland heights, and Anaheim. Budget of ~300.

Finally picked Hyatt Regency in Anaheim. 2-bedroom/2 bath suite, bunked beds for the kid. 700+ sq ft.

After all the discounts (AAA 15% off, free breakfast, Costco 24% off) came out to be $186 a night. That's a heck of a deal with daily breakfast for 3, only a few blocks from Disney, and a big renovated suite.
