Ogunquit, Maine
samftla's post in this thread prompted this thread. I've been thinking of a weekend trip up to Ogunquit when there's a cheap fare into BOS and wanted to get more comments on the town and recommendations. Are good accomodations available on short notice usually (I think P-town can be tough)? What else is there to do etc? Thanks!!!

I don't know about availability, but I stayed here. The Inn was recently restored, and is in good shape. Owners live onsite, and were very pleasant. I found it to be a nice, charming place. Maine in the summer has generally pleasant weather. The beach was okay (water is always cold in Maine). The pool/hottub at the hotel were nice enough, so we stayed there. The restaurants were good. The nightlife, while small and diverse, was fun. I'd go again, but probably for only the weekend. Because I know the OP is an intrepid shopper, the Outlet Malls in Kittery, ME are pretty good. Treat yourself to a high-end dinner at the White Barn Inn in nearby Kennebunk.

I second the accomodation suggestion. We stayed there last year (and in the past have stayed at three other places in town). This is by far the best 'guest house' in our opinion. Large enough to have a diverse crowd, we always found an nice couple or two to share breakfast or afternoon cocktails with. And it's very convenient to everything. Ogunquit is mostly just a weekend destination, so plan accordingly (either way - if you want quiet and easy availability, you'll find it mid-week, if you like crowds, try for a Fri/Sat, but that usually sells out early in the year).

Yeah, I was just in Ogunquit. Cute town. Nicer than ptown and more laid back. Stay in the center of town. We found a cute gay owned Inn. http://www.ogunquitBeachInn.com Place was nice and clean. The bars are close together. We had a great meal at Five-0
