No more transfer

When I asked to transfer my miles to HHonors yestereday, I got the following mail from Latinpass.

Starting January 1, 2003 we will not allow any more transfers to be made from your
LatinPass account to any of Latin Pass's participating program.

Big Change!

I wonder what other dark clouds loom on the horizon. I think LP should at leastnotify Hilton they will no longer allow transfers! They obviousely have no intention of notifying the General Membership!

NOT really. I just spoke with LP and we CAN still make a transfer for the last time for DEC if we havent used up our 30,000 miles per month max that was allowed to be transferred.

This may be implied, but I want to verify:

Is the restriction on transfers only to HHonors, or does it also apply to other partners like Distancia?

Thanks. I don't want to me call #20 they get today-- I'd hate for them to get scared.

They told me ANY type of transfer will NO longer be allowed. But they also said that the new program will be much better for us, I told her I've heard that numerous times over the years and the result was almost always worse for us.

I requested a transfer to HH on November 20 and they have already posted in my HH account.

I have always gotten good customer service from LP and I have derived many times the value I put into the LP program in my MM run. I will gladly wait and see on the GlobalPass program. I'd love to see Frontier, Airtran, JetBlue and others as partners.

We now know: no transfers in new "Global Pass" program to old partners. Copa is leaving program! What is the good news and if it is so good why are they not bragging about it.

It's very hard to figure out whether to be an optimist or a pessimist about where the program is headed. If they would just update the Web site to reflect the recent member/partner losses and address a few details about the program in 2003, I would be much more confident. As it is, I'll probably order a 30k transfer to HHonors to help protect a few miles from the unknown.

Hilton just announced a devaluation of their program by about 75% (VIP awards).

I'm feeling boxed in. First, NEA devalues their Mastercard program; moved my credit card business to Farm Bureau Bank and they devalued their program just a few months ago; switched to the Hilton VISA and now Hilton's done the same thing...

The recession is hitting home, but there's nothing like driving off customers (Hilton) to deepen it for a company.

Yeah, but devalued points (HHonors) may still be better than no points if Latin/Global/Pass fails. Their lack of information makes one very nervous about the future of the program, particularly since it will no longer be owned by the LatinPass airlines.

Actually, the increase in most VIP awards from 100k to 175k represents a devaluation of 43%.

ejulber - For reference, please provide a link to where you got this information. Right now, their VIP website still shows the original VIP awards.

See the post by Adam Burke from Hilton about half way down the first page of this thread:

LP transfers to Hilton will NOT end in Jan, according to a LP rep today. She said there was some confusion among members in that LP transfers to other programs will end or be restricted. But we can continue to transfer 30K per month up to 250K a year.

Just verified with LP what flymetothemoon has reported. Transfers will no longer be permited to the LP participating carriers from an LP account, but transfers to Hilton will remain as an option.

Agent also mentioned something about AMEX transfers ending as well.
