Australia?
I thought KLM flew there, but I can only find codeshares. Is there any way to get to Australia on LP miles?

Dhacker,
THE BAD NEWS: I tried to use LP miles on KLM to Australia and discovered as you have that all flights are code shared from KUL with Malaysia airlines and do not qualify for LP awards.
THE GOOD NEWS: You can transfer 175,000 miles to Hilton Honors and get two tickets to Australia and six hotel nights in almost any Hilton. http://www.hilton.com/en/hhonors/rewards/vip.jhtml See GLON9 award, I did this with my wife and kids last month. The bad part is the tickets are in coach. The good part is you get additional United miles and since Hilton buyst these seats there is more availabiltity than FF seats. Hope this helps. By the way if you decide to do this they will make you book the Hotel in Austalia, but you can cancel the reservation after receiving the certificate and use the six nights hotel award where ever you wish.

That's a great idea, but I "need" to fly business or first class. I don't fit into coach too well. I have enough BA miles to so the trip, but would have rather burned this year's allotment of LP miles.

Dave, if their buying tickets on United just use mileage to do your upgrade. I think 350,000 Hilton points could be used better elsewhere seems like a lot.
