Advice needed on LP Award ticket error

I received LP award tickets today that had the wrong return date. I had requested the tickets 5 months ago, and now my trip is 3 weeks away. I called them, and was told simply to send them back, and they would make the correction. This surprises me, since I had a hard time getting dates that would work for me even 5 months in advance. Will they really just change the date of the flight at this point, as they say? I have little confidence that they can, and wonder if I should try to work with U.S. Air - the airline the flights are on? I feel my trip is in jeopardy, despite months of planning. What to do?

I have had similar experiences with LP. In one case I sent the tickets back and got them in the regular mail the day before my trip! In the other instance I dealt directly with US. Judging from what I've seen on this board lately the latter approach may have become more difficult but that would be what I'd try first.

I've changed my US air tickets a few times. Simply call US AIR and act dumb. Tell them your flight and ask if another day is available but keep the same flight. Let them change the day and don't say anything. That's all it took. When I checked in they didn't even bother to sticker the ticket. The change was done. Changing flights requiring a ticket reissue is different. Don't mention LP. Play dumb.
