Expedited request problem

I know people have complained about LP. I just want to share my recent experience with them and to determine if other individuals have had the same experience.

I requested for 2 US award tickets on 02 JAN 2001. I was told to call back in a week. When I called back, I was told that US has not responded to the request. On 15 JAN 2001, I followed up with LP again. I was told that US had not responded.

Being a US Gold Preferred member, I called US and asked why they have not responded to LP's request. The poor US agent patiently searched for my requested flights for an entire month but could not find any request from LP. A US supervisor then informed me that if a request was initiated by LP for US award seats, LP should still get a Confirmation No. The requested flights will be noted as "unconfirmed" until US confirms it. The US supervisor asked me to call LP to get the US confirmation no. so that they can confirm the requested award seats. The US supervisor told me not to worry about availability since they have not even sold any seats on the flights I wanted to book.

I called LP back and was told that they don't have a US confirmation no. I pushed the LP agent to transfer my call to the LP person who actually requests US reservations for LP. After much hesitation, I was transferred to the LP agent who books US flights. This LP agent asked for my preferred flights and in 5 minutes I got confirmed seats! She gave me the US confirmation no. I then informed her that I want the tickets expedited. I sent LP a check for $45 for next day delivery by Federal Express. In the meantime, I checked with US to make sure that I really had confirmed seats. US ensured me that the requested flights have been confirmed.

On 17 JAN 2001, I called LP to ask if the tickets have been sent to me since they have already received the expedite fee. The agent informed me that the tickets were being sent that day and that they should be able to give me a tracking no. later that afternoon. Being such an idiot, I trusted the LP agent's word. On 22 JAN 2001, I have not received any FedEx packages from LP. So I called again. I was told that the tickets will be sent out that day for sure. Again, I was offered a tracking no. if I call later that afternoon. And once again (you think I'd learn my lesson at this point), I decided to take the LP agent's word for it.

No FedEx packages from LP today. So after lunch I called. I was told that the tickets will definitely go out today. Apparently, FedEx did not pick up their packages last Friday (ahhhh, more excuses). I insisted on a tracking no. this time.

I tracked the package a few minutes ago. It actually left MIA today! I just hope that I get BOTH tickets that I requested. It just occured to me that I was dumb enough not to specify that I wanted both tickets expedited. Boy, if this is how LP processes an expedited ticket request, I don't want to find out how they process regular ticket requests!

Yep... that's a pretty normal experience (i.e. we've had very similar exchanges).

We had 1 set of tickets to Europe that we called weekly from 11/02 till 1/5 and were
told they had been sent numerous times.
(...and many other calls...especially on
Hilton transfers).

Last week, we called on a new US Air request (i.e. 12/26/00)
and were shocked to be turned over to reservations. Someone had said in a different thread that LP had direct access to USAir
at LatinPass. She asked the dates and checked
online for various dates. They weren't available but that wasn't a surprise since they were more Europe tickets for June and there isn't much availability this late.
But I wonder if it'll ever happen again for us?
