LP doing better
I've complained enough about LP. Lately they have been much improved. I received a last minute ticket to Florida with no probem and my friend got one also with only one phonecall. I think they're getting ontrack. I am surprised and very happy.

What airline did you get the tickets on? Coach or First?

And travel dates, cities, if you don't mind? Please excuse my curiosity, I am just trying to understand as to how to successfully book flights.

Same here. I gave them a non-tourist U.S, destination with flexible dates and so far, 9 days, no luck ("call back in 2 days").

I got two FC tickets SFO-FLL & SFO-MCO. One ticket was with a five day advance notice and only one phone call. I was surprised. The other request was for two months from now and no phone call. Ticket arrived in mail 10 days after request. We (my partner and I who are both MM flyers) have previously gotten 4 FC SFO-CAI and 2 BC SFO-CDG. Those took months of calling and threatening months ago. My feeling is that the worst crunch at LP has passed and they are getting their act together. I've also gotten 3 separate tickets to Central America on TACA which are easy to book.
BTW USAIR Envoy class to Europe was excellent! I was surprised at the comfortable seat and "delicious" food served in five courses. This promo has changed my alliances. I'm starting to book some revenue bookings using my LP number.
US AIR did me a favor and changed a date on one reservation which tecnically is against the rules.(A rule that doesn't make sense to me.) They wouldn't sticker the ticket but added a note to the record that since the flights all were the same they'd accept the ticket.I'm quickly becoming a very satisfied LP customer...how shocking!!

Thanks for sharing the positive experiences. After the tremendous help that FTers provided one another to get the big bonus, I hope we can similarly help another to get the most from it.
My own experience with an LP award was good. I reserved two FC BOS-LAX tix through US Airways. Then faxed the info to LP and got my flights.

Thanks for the information and congratulations. It appears that domestic award travel on U.S. is easier to book in First Class than in Coach. (?)

I thought you could only do that with member airlines.

Regarding the US Airways ticketing, I followed a tip from another thread. I made Dividend award reservations with US airways to make sure there was availability on the specific flights I wanted. Then I faxed the LP award request form and a cover letter to LP telling them what I did. I asked LP to change my US award reservation into a LP award. All this said, I don't know if any of this made any real difference to getting my LP award flights. But on the phone the LP rep said it would help.
