LP Changing to GlobalPass
Theres a rumour that LP has been bought out or is changing its name to GlobalPass. Heard Frontier, AirTran, and Virgin Atlantic are supposedly members too. Checkout the site at http://globalpass.com Not any info. there but as you can see they are using the LatinPass logo.
Hopefully they'll have another Million Mile promo

A few years ago LP's parent Company tried to do a European Version of LP. It never did seem to get off the ground.
I suspect this is a new programme to gain carriers that either could not get into LP, or didn't want to get into LP!
The fact of the matter is that everytime a new member can join LP, the existing members must all agree.
In the past this has kept some Asian carriers who have routes to Latin America out of LP.
Also lets face it a Airline like MALEV Hungarian would not have much in common with the other LP Members, so this programme is probably geared to a more international sector, to gain carriers like Malev, Turkish Airlines, Philippine Airlines Ect.!

The phone number listed for more info is the regular LP number, 1-800-44-LATIN.
I was told that one difference is thatthe new program will not be partly owned by the LP carriers. That may give them more flexibility to take on other partners, as mentioned by Canadian.
I think the principle of a combined program of foreign airlines to court North America based travelers is a good concept that could work in places other than Latin America.
