My 500K finally got posted - or so I was told. I have not seen on a statement and probably will not for 3 months as they only mail quarterly (I think) and no on-line file.
I was told many times - will be posted in a day, next Monday, etc. and finally after about 10 days they said it posted. I think a call every 4-5 days is worthwhile. They orginally seemed suprised that mine had not posted when I told them I had sent in documents 3 months ago. Now to use them. My wife's 500k not posted yet. Took same trips and sent in documentation together. But she did not call. (previously they let me discuss her account, but one day last week they would only talk to her). I held back on that as wanted to get mine posted and not add confusion (and possible delays). |
Called LP this morning -- the 500K has posted.
Trip taken: April 8-11 Docs sent to LP: June 23 Bonus posted: October 12 (approx.) Avis MIA held up things for over 6 weeks by failing to post. |
ALL MY WIFE AND I ARE MISSING IS DOLLAR RENT A CAR WHICH LATIN PASS HAS LOST THE RECEIPTS FOR. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif
I hope that they will straighten this out as I sent them via courier with other items, and they do have the date and location info. |
Hi all, I talked to LP on Friday and all of my remaining flights for the MM run had posted. They also said that my file was in review and the MM should be posted in a few days. So I should join the ranks of mile-ionaires shortly!

Called today and found out that my 500k has posted. Would you believe this is only the third time I've called them. Once in June to see if all the activities for my April-May trip had posted (it hadn't), once in early September, and once in October. And today I found out my bonus has posted, as well a correction for flights in business class.
So, rather than spending my summer being frustrated and angry, I let them take a bit of time since I knew they were overwhelmed with this promotion. Are the LatinPass people friendly and sincere? I think so. Are they incompetent? Maybe a bit, but no point in getting angry about it, better to work with them than against them to solve problems. And finally, am I happy with my two week trip to Latin America and my 500k bonus miles? You bet! |
I called LP today and my wife's MM has finally posted. Everything has posted for me except my car rental in Costa Rica with Avis. I've been working on this AVIS credit through AVIS as well as LP, hoping the information would connect quicker. I know that LP has now sent request for verification to AVIS, and I have been told that a copy of the original invoice has been sent from Costa Rica to the partners credit desk somewhere in the US.
Flights & Car Rentals from 4/28 to 5/19 Sent in documents on 6/20 (rec'd 6/26) Wife's miles posted between 10/2 and 10/16 My miles, hopefully by 11/1. Update: As of 11/8, Avis still not posted. ------------------ Happy Travels, Rhinochaser [This message has been edited by rhinochaser (edited 11-08-2000).] |
Many of us are now participating in the off line discussion of all things Latin Pass. Hope some of you will join us! We are learning alot about how the systems work, and how to work the systems!
If you are interested e-mail your name, addresss, phone, FT name, occupation, telephone number and a brief statement (indicating how you are involved - million-miler, 500K) and a disclaimer to any relationship with Latin Pass. Feel free to add anything else you think the group will be interested in learning about you and your experience. We look forward to having you join us! |
I called LP this week and my million miles posted!
For what it's worth: I took the MM trip in May, finishing requirements on the partners in early June. LP received my documentation for 5 flights that didn't post on 7/20. The flights posted followed by my MM bonus in ~mid-October. The whole MM promotion has been a fun adventure. I've had the pleasure of meeting some great people - many of them FTers. I have to say I've also had very positive experiences with LP, and believe that many of the gripes that people have with them will be resolved positively. I'll be rooting for those of you who still haven't recieved your miles, and hope to see many of you on flights to exotic destinations. Hiker Guy |
I'm happy for you, Hiker Guy! I can't help being a little frustrated when I hear of other people who travelled after me getting their MM when I haven't. I made the trip in March, and finished up the last car rental in June. Some things have posted, and I've sent in all the original documentation for all that hasn't. Nothing! I tried emailing them, but no reply yet. Does that ever work, or do you have to call long distance?

I've received replies to email from LP. You can call them toll-free at 1-800-44-LATIN.

Thanks, dhacker! I'll wait for a reply to my email (patiently, of course) and maybe give them a call while i'm waiting.

Hi plantlady, sorry to be slow with this response, but I've been on vacation the last ~10 days.
For what it's worth, I know of folks who completed their run after me yet received their MM bonus much sooner... I think this depends on several things, including the number of rentals/flights that don't automatically post. It can help to be proactive with getting things posted - but not with LP, with the partners. (Thrifty, for example, does not automatically post non-US activity - you have to call their frequent flier department.) But I don't think calling or emailing LP directly has much (if any) effect. While LP may have made errors with documentation on individual accounts (I recall one person who said that LP lost track of some documentation), overall the biggest thing that I can fault LP with is excessive optimism about how long it takes to process the MM requests. Some of this was beyond their control - computer outages and torrential rains set them back - but in fact I don't think anyone could tell you how long it would take a small staff to process several hundred MM requests. My best advice is to make sure the documentation is in, do what you can by working with the partners, then let LP do their job. I called them occasionally, but never more than once in a week (and even that's a lot when you consider the hundreds of MMers out there). Hope this helps - Hiker Guy |
Thanks for the input, Hiker Guy. Haven't had any time to harrass LP lately anyway. I guess I'll wait till the next statement and then see what I can do through TWA, Avis, etc. And keep the faith. I've got dreams of Alaska and Mexico, and hawaii, and . . . .

Called LP today (sent my originals down in early September). Now all is posted except an Avis rental. ALMOST there. (Sent originals of Aeropostal, Aviateca, and US Air also, which have now posted). Hoping my wait is almost over.
