Checked Baggage Allowance for Basic and Light Tickets
We’re considering which type of ticket to purchase for an inter-Chile flight between Santiago and Temuco.
The light and basic fares are cheaper but have a big red X next to checked luggage. Other things like assigned seats have a $ which implies they can be purchased.
Does this mean you are not able to pay for checked luggage on these types of fares?

Yes, you can buy them afterwards. In fact, after you select your flights, you can then select / buy seats and bags.
Depending on your needs, it might be cheaper to buy a more expensive fare brand than to buy each thing separately
