LATAM schedule/equipment changes due to 787 issues

Earlier this week the FAA issued inspection requirements and ETOPS - 140 restrictions on certain 787 aircraft with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 Package C engines. All of LATAM's 787 fleet are being affected, with some already haven been taken out of service.

Even before the latest announcement, LATAM wetleased Wamos A330 aircraft to fill the capacity holes. An additional Wamos 747 has been wetleased to fill the additional gaps. There is the potential that other LATAM 777s and 767s will substitute for the 787s when appropriate. See https://aeropacific.blogspot.com/201...ded-fifth.html

At this point, no announcements have been made by LATAM directly (LATAM did previously announce the Wamos A330 route substitutions). Some have noticed that slowly flights are being updated. I've started this thread to share information on the impacted 787 routes and the new equipment.

At least for the next week, a 767 is being substituted on the SCL-IPC route, although a 787 is still listed for the IPC-PPT route. Also, almost all availability on this route has been zeroed out.

I'd bet there's too much cargo at risk if they downgauged the equipment. But then, what do I know.

LA 531 is still showing in EF as a 788 on select days starting in mid-May (May 20 and 22, for instance). I'm on LA 537 on May 21 (evening of May 20), which was downgraded from 788 to 763 about a month ago. We'll see if they downgrade LA 531 in due course, which may result in some J overbooking issues depending on which version of the 763 they use.

But 600/601 is also a 788. But is it exempt because it flies a route the keeps it within 140 miles of a qualified airport, while the nonstop flies a more over-ocean route?

This may only be a coincidence, but the last SCL-LAX flight hugged the Pacific Coast all of the way up to LAX. Its still being operated by a 787.

Same with the return:

Unusual 787 seat map

MEL to SCL on 1 June has an unusual seat map and i'm wondering if it is related to this leasing.

It has a 787 with 37 rows and rows 28 and 37 have only ABC seats. This is different to what is on seatguru for Latam's 787-8 and 787-9.

Any thoughts? Are they leasing another 787?

My flight SCL-BOG originally operated by B787 has been replaced by a Wamos A330.

This is for a flight in 3 weeks, is there any chance it may go back to a B787?

I’m in business class and am not really looking forward to flying on a charter airline, am I entitled to any form of compensation?

They say in the first info that the A330 will only fly until the end of April.... but i dont think so.

You can call and get your fly for free, but need to be the same destiny.... So you may get some 787 SCL LIM and then a 767 LIM BOG

Its interesting that the Easter Island flights are still being flown with a combination of the 787-8 and 787-9. That would seem to be in contravention to the FAA directive, although the FAA directive would not apply to a domestic Chilean flight.

I just checked EF and now the 600/601 (LIM<->LAX/SCL) flights in mid May through early June that recently showed as 788s are now showing as 789s.

So is LATAM leasing some 789s from someone else?

it seems that there is a low availability of flights (eco and biz) in september to easter island. Do the LATAM specialists have any insights? Are there any expected maintenance on the engines or aircraft changes to be expected?
