SCL > IPC Availability in March
hello everyone!
I'm heading down to Santiago for business in March and mulling over a side trip over to Easter Island for the first time. As far as schedule goes at that time of year looks like LAN is running daily flights and my understanding is March is no longer high season as kids are back in school.
My question is: Is it normal that the Y class seat availability changes daily? I've been checking the fares on the LAN website for the last week and it looks like the availability of various days changes constantly. For example 1 day Sat-Wed is available, next day its Sun - Wed, then next day Sat - Mon, etc... I can't buy the seats yet, but I'm nervous seeing the availability and fares fluctuate so wildly...

I was seeing a similar thing when looking to book a just completed trip to IPC, though in J. From one day to the next, availability was fluctuating - even throughout the same day. I finally had to modify my preferred dates by a few days when I booked the ticket, in order to get the lowest fare class.
But yes, there should be a little less traffic heading there in March.

I'm also looking at J seats, and the I availability completely dried up for the month about a day or 2 ago: many flights went from J7 D7 I7 to something like J2 D0 I0 in the blink of an eye.
I'm just checking back every day and hoping to see things change, and then pounce when it does.

Check on LAN.com and look for the lowest award redemption, for Y is 50k Km R/T and for J is 100k Km R/T. If you see it, you should be able to get it with your AA/BA miles. I see a lot of flights for March.
I'm still don't know why BA can not show those flights with their search, same problem with QF.
