Reminder for those who is not aware of this since it was not mentioned in this thread so far, US citizen $131 fee is not per entry, it is good for 10 years.

And if I am not mistaken, the EZE entry fee is on its way to US$140 from $131. I don't know how long it will take to become official, but I read a note last week that said they are doing it in response to the US Embassy notifying that its fee was going up for Argentines. That's why they call it reciprocity.

Entry fee

When I went through EZE in Feb. 2010 the fee was $150 USD, beware, it may be higher now, wouldn't be surprised.

If you were on a US passport, it was $131. Whatever your credit card company may have charged you is a different story.

I just went through EZE two weeks ago and the reciprocity fee was $131 USD. It is good for 10 years -- they put a visa-like document in your passport.

In fact, LAN has an ad about this.

Una hora menos de taco, una hora ms de reunin

And to think people look at me with a dumb face when I say "hay tacos" and there's no food.

Just did this tuesday, not charged. Customs person did stare at my passport a little extra longer confused that i didnt have the sticker for the reciprocity fee. Once I explained I arrived via AEP, smooth sailing

Santiago is lovely and clean, but for me Buenos Aires is more interesting. Definitely take the AEP flight (and save the U$140 that they would have gotten from you at EZE!) ^

Definitely go via AEP. Buenos Aires is cheaper, more interesting and you would want to come back for more. I can squeeze Recolecta, Puerto Madero, San Telmo and Boca all in one way at a leisurely peace and have great steak lunch and/or dinner, no worries.

Not sure about what exactly to see in Palermo - it's a (comparatively) upscale residential neiborhood alright, with fashion stores, cafes, nightclubs etc. I feel it's like Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro without the beach . Good place to stay if one is to stay in BsAs for a while though.

I entered Argentina yesterday through AEP on a US passport and paid the reciprocity fee at an official collection desk right next to the immigration lines. I don't know when the desk was installed at AEP but it did not look new. The fee is posted in USD ($140.00) but you can have it charged to your card (Visa, MC or Amex) in either Argentine Pesos or USD. All UK, Australia, and US citizens are required to pay the fee, which is valid for 10 years (they apply a computer-generated sticker to one of your passport's visa pages).

I didn't think the UK had citizens. Aren't you merely a subject of HRH?
