Top Dollar Slots - When to accept the offer?

I know from prior posts that Top Dollar is a favourite of many here. My question for those who like to play the game is, during the Top Dollar bonus round, when do you accept the offer?

Do you always accept if the offer is at least "X"?

Do you always decline every offer and go to the 4th one?

How do you play the game??

Tonight, I got a few decent offers playing a $1 machine...one that was over $175, and a couple others that were between $65 and $90. Put a $20 in and made over $300. Fun!!

Don't play it often, but on occasion on a $1 machine I usually accept if it is $40 or higher on first offer because usually IME subsequent offers are less. Best ever for me on a buck machine was $800 on a double Top Dollar. It is a fun machine even if the payout odds are poor compared to other games in a casino.

This is my favorite machine. On our last trip, our group of 4 got hooked on the top dollar machine. My friend got drawn to a $10 machine and hit $1680 after only 1 pull. I hit $575 on a $5 machine. As far as accepting the offers, you just have to see what the machine is doing. I like to play the top dollar machines that have x2 at the top so there is a chance that you can win two times the amount that is hit. In other words, if it hits $100 x 2 you win $200. That will get you really hooked!

Those Double Top Dollar machines are fun too. In fact you can win four times the amount if it hits as there are two 2X multipliers so if both hit your total increases 4X. Hit an $800 pot once at Harrahs with a 4X.

I am somewhat embarassed to admit that I have never played a "real" slot machine, as I stick to table games and poker. Can somebody explain the concept of the Top Dollar slots?
Since I'll be in Vegas in two weeks maybe they can be my "gateway drug" to the world of spinning reels.

Where are the Top Dollar slots?

A specific casino you recommend, or they are in all casinos?

everywhere,

BUT, if you are looking for the 2-coin $1000 machines (a mere $2,000 per spin); you'll have to stick with the Wynn Las Vegas High Limit Room.

Of course, that machine does have a 2.5 million dollar top prize, IIRC.

OK, well, it's a machine with a bonus round that is call the "TOP DOLLAR" bonus, which has 4 offers. After each offer, you decide if you will accept or carry on to the next offer.

But, a video (of the bonus round) explains it best... My friend JM and I over Thanksgiving at Caesars AC (this is a $1 Top Dollar Machine)

I prefer the traditional reel version of the game in $1, $5 or $25 denominations.

Thanks for the description and the video. How do you earn the bonus round? I assume you have to align the reels to a certain pattern...roughly how often does the bonus round happen?
Sorry for the in-depth questions...perhaps this is why I have stuck with cards with their friendly combinatorial mathematics.

I blame it completely on JM (Jean-Marie).

And, yes, we were very much in a gambling mood that day. She loves to hop from machine to machine. IIRC, since it all goes so fast with her --- there were a few nights hit there, especially a quick hit & run on a $5 VP machine at Trump Plaza. She also loves the multi-line diamond machines.... though, I'm more of a Top-Dollar and Goldfish kind of guy.

edit to add: JM was obsessed with us getting a 2X bonus.

on the traditional reel machine, you need to play full coin (2 or 3 coin), and then get the TOP DOLLAR symbol on the 3rd reel. If you look at the end of the video, you will see the TOP DOLLAR symbol on that reel.

For multi-line games (in lower denominations) it varies a bit.

I too like to hop around especially when I'm bored (usually means when nothing is going right that day ).

BTW, Palazzo has $1 Top Dollar machines with five lines so $5 a spin but you must align all the Top Dollar symbols (a la BAR symbols) to get to the bonus round.
