When Is The Best Time To Book?
I am planning a trip to Vegas in late October. Most, if not all, of the web deals I have found require travel by sometime in September so would it be better for me to wait another few months to book and roll the dice? My only concern is fuel prices, etc bumping up air travel even more. Thanks!

You don't always get the best price with a package deal, i.e. air + hotel. Try pricing them separately to see if you can get a better deal this way you won't have to worry too much about airfares going up later and reserve hotel later when prices may drop.

Check every few days starting now on the vegas hotel discount sites. On my most recent trip, they kept going down - I locked in a cancellable room and just kept cancelling and rebooking, then finally switched hotels when I saw a great deal at a better hotel three days before I left.
Other times it has gone up as we got closer to the date.
