LAS-LAX Capacity

Used to be you could always get a flight to/from LAX-LAS. That's no longer the case. HP/US now charges $275 or more OW on this route (7 day advance purchase). The I-15 is a morass. It's hard to get to Vegas from L.A. at all!! Will somebody please add some 747s??

wow 275?

Have you even looked at some LCC's? Doesn't SWA fly to LAS? Most fares when I looked are like 100-150 for a one way.

Capacity has tightened up on this route, which totally sucks. The LCCs are in control... the legacies even barely have a presence anymore (e.g., AA just changed 3 mainline flights to 4 Eagle flights).

FYI... I believe JL flies a 747 LAS-LAX... of course, it flies onward to NRT, and also illegal for JL to sell a domestic leg.

275 OW with 7 day advance? On Orbitz you can get a return LAX-LAS on HP or UA for $158 with a Fri/Sun departure/return which is the busiest/costliest combination. This is for next weekend 2/24 to 2/26.

Between America West, Southwest and Ted there are probably about 60 daily flights from SoCal (LAX, SNA, BUR, ONT) to LAS plus a handful of American Eagle and one or two JetBlue flights from. There is no shortage of flight availability.

NW has once daily LAS-LAX also, I think I've seen it for pretty cheap sometimes. Not the carrier you'd think of on this route!

WN sells that route for $109 + tax one-way as a walkup fare (their max on the route), so $270 one-way (in coach) is ridiculous. Were you looking at First or r/t? Right now AmericaWest.com is quoting $218+ for round-trip out and back tomorrow.

I was looking at coach return on orbitz with 7 day advance, that ws your criteria originally. For a 40 min flight why spend extra on FC?

You can't epect great deals when booking last minute no matter what route you fly.
