TV Program on Golden Nugget

Couldn't find this in a search, so hopefully it's news. Monday night, June 14, at 9:00 p.m. a program called Casino will be on the Fox Network (Channel 13 here in Seattle.) It is supposedly a reality show covering the 2 guys who have taken over the Golden Nugget.

There are at least two Casino reality shows on right now. In addition to the one about the GN, there is also one on the Green Valley Ranch.

Sorry folks!

That show on the Golden Nugget was one bad hour of TV. Talk about sleezy. Sorry for even bringing it up.

I agree it was bad, but the fact that the "wanna be player" brought a she-man to his room was funny as hell.

This has got to be one of the fakest reality shows that I have seen. Did anyone notice that the women (actresses?) surrounding the "high roller" at the craps table were the same ones who were upstairs at the frat pack party?

Also, when the "high roller" was flying into town, I think that they showed a Southwest plane! I guess everyone is in "First Class" on that plane

This all depends on your definition of reality. Yes, the GN guests have been through the casting process. Yes, they are getting free vacations. (Which may explain the Southwest plane!) The show only purports to be unscripted, not staged. Here's one of the casting notices:

Friday, January 23, 2004

FOX looking for Casino gamblers.
For The Casino, which will be taped this spring at downtown Las Vegas' Golden Nugget, FOX and Mark Burnett are looking for "outgoing personalities who LOVE to gamble." Producers are particularly searching for "people who are gambling for a specific purpose (to raise money to pay for something they really need or want) or who have a specific and compelling reason for coming to Vegas (wedding proposal, bachelor party, reunion, major life event, etc). If you have a larger than life personality and money to gamble to make your dreams come true in Vegas, we want to meet you." If you're cast, you get your face on FOX, and "a dream vacation" to Vegas. It's not exactly clear what those selected will be doing in Vegas, besides gambling; the application [PDF] refers to those cast as both "a guest" and "a player." Applications are due Jan. 31.
