Sorry jabez, I just see now that I've confused you with aaflyer81 who started the thread. My advice was directed to their situation based on those dates and the vastly higher MGM quote.
For the last weekend in October,I would still take a shot at a suite deal in the UNLV zone with a cancelable backup (a place with local character). This was my advice, not to expect a particular hotel to come up on Priceline. It certainly couldn't hurt.

For those wanting to pay a little more and get what you want, I would recommend looking at AA Vacations hotel only packages. I was able to get a really good rate at the Bellagio ($134 a night which is good for the Bellagio..even less than their web special) and I receive 3,000 AA bonus miles.
