Getting to/from Thomas & Mack
I'm heading on a quick trip to Vegas for a concert at Thomas & Mack Arena. What is the best way to get from LAS to a hotel on the strip to Thomas & Mack, then back to the hotel?
Taxi, I guess?

Rentals cars are a hassle in Vegas.
Taxi from the airport to the hotel should be less than $10
If you're at the "four corners" area (MGM Grand, NY NY, Excalibur, Tropicana, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo) you could hoof it at 2.5 miles. Again, taxi otherwise.

The BEST way is to reserve a private limo. If you're a high roller, this will be complimentary. Otherwise it's still only $35/hr.
If you're on a budget, take Las Vegas Limos (outside door 14 of baggage claim) for $4-5 to your Strip hotel (share with six other people). Then take a taxi to T&M, which is right outside the airport. You may have a wait getting a cab after the show though.
Alternatively, you could rent a car. Dollar usually has cars for $15/day. If you rent from an off-airport location, you save about 10% in taxes but then you have to pay to get to and from the airport so it usually evens out. Make sure you join FastLane before you do this because it saves you from their obnoxious high-pressure sales tactics.
If you stay at the MGM Grand, you really could make the long walk to and from T&M.

From the four corners, probably 3/4 of a mile of the walk is the mgm grand! Unless you stay downtown, you'll drive by the T&M on your way in from the airport, so you can see how far the walk is. Its pretty uninteresting. a 8 lane road, airport on one side, and until you hit the MGM, pretty much nothing on the other.
I'd recommend the Mandalay Bay (hip), MGM Grand (huge), the Luxor (interesting), the Mirage (classy), or the Venetian (nice) for a first timer in LAS. The Bellagio is great, but very expensive.

As the first "Super Casino" it set the standard for others to follow when it opened in 1989. By Vegas standards I think it is still an excellent, classy hotel casino.
