The double bay suites don't even show on the booking screen.

no problem,
they have 2 photos of the Augustus Spa Suite in the Harrah's media center. I never inquired, since I'm just not a big enough player for that; but of course, you never know with regard to the $100 trick.

I just double checked making a ressie online at harrahs.com and the double bay suites at CP are showing up as an option (right below the premium palace tower room); you might want to check that out again.

The Flamingo suites are news to me too, can't seem to find them on the website (I hate that useless website). Interesting story about the $20 trick at Flamingo, I used it twice at CP fairly recently and got Premium Palace Tower Rooms, and at Paris last month and got some huge corner room with a fantastic view and cross-ventilating windows (a huge thing for smokers), all on weekends, mostly holidays. Thinking this time of $100 to see what it would get me on this special trip, especially at CP.

The big difference is that those $20 upgrades were for just better rooms (such as the P room you noted above at Paris); IMHO, getting a better regular room is a lot easier than scoring a true 1 bedroom suite.

Since rank points accumulate calendar year only, I have been able to accumulate close to the 10,000 needed since January, and should be Diamond by the time we arrive next month. Have been waiting until then to try to find a decent host. Can you give me an idea of the best casino to find one? We stay at Paris and CP, but am worried trying to get a host at Caesar's would be worthless for someone of my lower ADT. Would Paris be better?

Yes, and there are some very nice hosts at Paris. If you PM me, I can give you a name and email. Or, you "might" want to consider an independent host. While Diamond is nice (especially for the additional amenities like the free show tickets and lounges) it is your ADT that will rule the offers (and rooms) you get. In addition, everyone wants to stay at CP (instead of other HET properties); and there are tons of 7*'s who are also competing for the same suites. In addition, make sure that you DO NOT short play when playing at Harrah's properties (i.e. better to play 2 days of $20,000 coin in at video poker instead of 4 days of $10,000 coin in) -- this will really hurt your overall rating.

Taking advantage of Harrah's Best Rate Guarantee

I recently booked a trip to Vegas for Sept 20-23. I found out that Harrah's has a Best Rate Guarantee that if you can find a lower rate than the B/A rate on the hotel website, that they will give you that lower rate PLUS 25% off of that rate. For example...Harrah's had a std room at Caesars for $740 + tax. Using www.travelaxe.com I was able to search multiple booking sites and found a rate of $738 + tax through another site. I filled out their BRG form along with proof of the lower rate, and the next morning I received an e-mail telling me that my new rate is $553.50 + tax. It takes maybe 10 minutes to process the forms. Here is what you have to do:

- check the rates for the Harrah's properties on the hotel site
- go to a booking search engine like travelaxe that will search multiple sites for the best rate possible
- when/if you find a lower rate, you must then book the posted rate on the hotel website
- within 4 hours of booking the room through Harrah's, you must go to the site with the lower rate and create a screen shot of the billing page that shows the rate and the space to enter your credit card info. DO NOT BOOK THE ROOM THROUGH THE OTHER WEBSITE!!! NOTE: Harrah's requires a timestamp of your screen shot. All you have to do is open up the clock on your computer so that they can see it. Here is an example of a screenshot I sent in:

http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/2...brates2sn8.jpg

Then print off this form (http://www.harrahs.com/images/corpor..._claimform.pdf), fill it out, and fax it to the appropriate # along with the screenshots. This must also be sent in within 4 hours of booking the room.

You can read more about processing the claim at these two links:

120 minute timeshare presentation for $100 in Harrah's Chips.....

I saw this on orbitz when looking for tix. Not sure how "legit" this is.. I'll just suck it up and kill the two hours perhaps.... here's the ad.

thoughts?

There are no requirements to already be a guest at a Harrahs property?

How long would it take you to lose or win $100? :)

[No way would I spend that much time missing out on Las Vegas, for a presentation - unless the presentation was during a buffet breakfast!]

You will find timeshare sales people in almost every hotel in Vegas. There is no need to send in a $25.00 deposit and tie up your time in advance. I don't see the fine print on your offer, but would imagine that the casino chips they are offering are not the same as cash. They will probably be a match-play chip that is kept when bet - whether your bet wins or loses. You will be paid the winning amount, but will not be able to re-use the original chip. This greatly diminishes their value.

The timeshare hawkers will be very accommodating to fit you into their schedule and you will be able to choose amongst them after you arrive. Most of them offer show tickets for your time. There will be no shortage of offers to choose from. Personally I would not give up 2 hours of my time.

Agree with GDIW. Just up in Vegas last month and couldn't swing a dead cat without seeing a timeshare salesperson. You can definitely pick and choose your "prizes" w/o any upfront fees, reservations, etc.

So long as you're sure you'll go the deposit doesn't matter. They just want to make sure people actually show up, it's not a scam.

We do a lot of the timeshare presentations (we're local--something the timeshare people seem to have wised up on, most of them don't want locals anymore.) but no way would we take them up on this one.

At best they are match-play chips and they very well might be restricted to some game with very poor odds. They have a million tactics to make the gifts look good when they aren't--whenever you are looking at what they are offering see if you can figure out any way to make it a booby prize. If you can they probably did.

IMHO, if you want to kill two hours, just go to the Showcase theaters on the strip and see a movie. The worse movie would be more exciting than a timeshare pitch.

This is an excellent point and one to watch out for. When we were younger and less wise, we signed up for a timeshare tour for $50 in casino play. It turned out to be $50 for the "prize machines" that are often used for tournaments where, unless you hit an astronomical sum, you win a choice of cheap prizes. It was not $50 in real cash.

Needless to say, we were not pleased and now wouldn't do a time share presentation for anything less than $100. Most of the time, we don't do them at all. It is fun to play with the timeshare people on the street, though. A couple of my favorites:

1) When they approach us on the street and ask if we are married, we tell them yes. Later on in the conversation, when they make a reference to our future vacations that we will get with timeshares, we tell them, "Oh, you mean married to each other? Nooooo, we're just here on a little getaway."

2) Wait until they approach us on the street and as soon as they start to talk, I start yelling at my wife, "See! You spend so much money that the !#$&#$!* stores are coming to you now!" It's all she can do to keep from laughing.

Mike

They've never asked us this one, although from our behavior it's obvious we are romantically linked. (It's almost certain that I will have my hand on her shoulder--this evolved from the fact that the usual hand at the hip is too awkward for us due to 13" of height difference.)

thanks for the info.... I love scoring free crap since I won't buy a Vegas timeshare :)

$50 an hour is a pretty good rate of return in a casino - at least for us low rollers. :D By way of example, If you play 30 blackjack hands an hour at $25 per hand, that's $1500 wagered over 2 hours, so a $100 gain would be a win rate of 6.66% (vs. normal casino odds of roughly -1% or $15). Of course, for most of us, the thrill of gambling can't be matched by a timeshare presentation, though I quite enjoy presenting the sales managers with my #s which tend to blow their whole spiel apart. :D

I would agree that you have to look closely at the offer. When I stayed at the Hyatt Incline Village (Lake Tahoe) they were offering $100 in real casino chips which you could immediately convert to cash if you so desired (though I bet most people don't ;) )

IME most of the Vegas timeshare hawkers offer tickets to (IMO) bad shows that are already heavily discounted or promo'd.

As for my time, well, that depends. The odds being what they are, most of us would experience a net positive swing by attending a presentation v. gambling, but I would be loathe to give up prime pool time
