"Block" Reservation Leverage on the Strip
All...
I'm traveling with 16 guys to Vegas May 3-6 for, you guessed it, a bachelor's party. While I've been out to Vegas about five or six times, this is the first time for a lot of these guys. Anyway, I've been put in charge of locating rooms for us.
The best man has given me two instructions: the hotel's gotta be "nice" and it's gotta be "on" the strip (I'm guessing he wants center strip). So this knocks out the places I usually stay.
Anyway, so my thought is that The Aria and The Palazzo are probably the nicer properties in the ~$200/night range. My questions are this: does booking eight rooms entitle me to any special discount with the hotel? Special access to concierge lounge? Is there any point of me calling or e-mailing the properties regarding this?

Yes, it never hurts. I know someone that have gone and got a lower rate than anything that's available. YMMV as always, pending whether there are major conventions/events that weekend and the hotel occupancy rate I would imagine.
