First time in Vegas

Hey all!

Ok its my first time heading to Vegas this week!

I am not a huge gambler but I like to do it! My wife is excited about a few shows! We are heading Sat to Hoover Dam

Any advice for the rookies? What casino? What restaurants? Anything we just HAVE to see??

I dont want to get home and say....I wish we would have......

I'm a huge fan of the (free) Bellagio conservatory. There is a good crepe place right net to it also.

Some of my best Vegas times have just been casino hopping. Each has a different vibe, different attractions.

If you're buffet people, Paris for breakfast, and Rio World Carnival for dinner (Wynn is great, but pricey, with Bellagio not far behind).

For a nice spa day (w/o treatments, just access to the pools and saunas and things), Caesars can be fun (they have a "cold sauna" with soap bubble snow that falls from the ceiling).

Also, see O.

Happy to answer any other questions.

I'd go to Love before O - especially if you're a Beatles fan.

If you're staying at the south end of the Strip, fun to go up to Mix at the top of The Hotel right before sunset and watch the sun go down and lights come up.

Obviously need to see a couople of Bellagio fountain shows.

My wife and I are in our 30's so we arent huge beatles fans....

Then maybe it's a toss up. Seems like the first Cirque show is usually the favorite.

Other good cocktail bars are the one at the Mandarin Oriental and the terrace at the Fontana Bar at Bellagio (this is often closed for different functions but if it's open, the patio overlooks the lake and water shows -- pretty cool).

For your demo, I'd recommend dinner at Mesa Grill at Caesars, Shibuya (sushi at MGM) or Craft Steak (also at MGM).

I was just at the Hoover Dam to see the new bridge, pretty spectacular. Are you driving or taking a tour?

If you like Penn & Teller, it's a good show. I may be in the minority, but I liked Mystere more than 'O', mainly because you feel closer to the action.

Too many good restaurants. Since I stay at the Venetian, I tend to dine there. An afternoon margarita & tacos on the canal at Taqueria Canonita is always on my agenda as well as dinner at the bar at B&B.

Take a stroll through the Forum Shops at Caesars.

Stratosphere

Make sure you get to the top of the Stratosphere either for dinner or just drinks. Go at dusk or at night. It's the best view in Las Vegas.
Enjoy.:)

If you want a great show, got to the MGM and see "Ka". AWESOME show.

I go to Vegas 4 times a year. I LOVE just wandering from one end to the other over a few days and checking out and playing in all the casinos.

You will get a sensory overload as it is when you go through the casinos, but just take a wander... ;)
