you guys rock! Thanks

1. Before you shell out cash to see a Cirque show, catch a clip of it on YouTube and make sure it's your thing. It wasn't mine, and I still regret the $300.
2. For show tickets, check the many 1/2 price ticket places on the strip the day of (unless there's a show you must see). 3. There are trucks that pull billboards up and down the street with phone numbers on them. Call one and ask that they send someone to your room. 4. Parlay bets are not bad bets. 5. There are a million good restaurants, so research them by category (Italian, French, Steak...) That way you can hit the best of each. 6. Do you know where you're staying? Pick right. 7. Order very late night room service and eat in bed. 8. Buy your wife something special that she'll remember the trip by. 9. Spend a small amount of time in a loud club like Tao and enjoy the scene. 10. Take an afternoon nap. 11. Take a picture by the Las Vegas sign. It's just after Mandalay Bay. 12. If you like comedians and aren't offended easily, PM me and I'll set you in the right direction. 13. Don't start drinking too early. 14. Slots get hot and cold. Most of that is good advice... :D |

If you are taking a cab to your hotel, take a look at this thread (and although it has been closed due to "sniping", it has some very good and useful information)

All of the various Cirqu shows are good. Everyone has their own personal preferences.
My favorite is "O' but Mystere is awsome too. You can't go wrong with either fo these shows! We didn't like Love and himself is a Beatles fan. He'd seen 4 other Cirqu shows over the years and felt that Love had less acrobatic type acts and more (too much) 60's psychodelic dance type scenes. Definitly check out the half-price ticket booth for some good deals. Rita Rudner is very, very funny. Terry Fator is awsome. Both of these entertainers will entertain. Tell your wife to get a foot massage at the place by the Half-price ticket booth while you wait in line to get tickets :D Paris and Rio buffets are worth it. |
Be sure to traverse the entirety of the Strip on foot while carrying those huge frozen drinks. Also, don't worry about the pedestrian signals -- those are for residents only. :D
(Yes, I've been too many times and the pedestrians are getting to me...) |
As someone else I think mentioned, IMO, the best thing for a first timers to Vegas is to just walk the strip to visit the casinos and attached malls. Check out all the free spectacles. If you have time, go see a show and visit downtown. Go to a nice buffet. If you're a shopper, check out the outlets.

Thanks!
My wife and I are in our 30's so we arent huge beatles fans.... Well...I went more than 10 times to LV, and wached: "O", Beatles LOVE, Criss Angel Believe, Phantom, Le Rêve... But LOVE is a must see. I recommend all these shows, excluding only the Criss Angel Believe....terrible... "O" and Le Rêve are in the water, so they are very different...and very nice shows. Some must see are: Fountains of Bellagio, Bellagio Conservatory, Fremont Experience (night), and go to the top ofteh Stratosphere (night). The must see casinos are Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Bellagio and Aria... Well, that's it Have a nice trip! |
Just got back yesterday

Dude, after your first posts and all the suggestions you OWE us a trip report.
If not for us, think of the children! :D :D More seriously, your report is important - other first-timers looking at this thread in the future can learn from someone who was in their same situation; and those of us who offered advice can "fine-tune" our responses to future posts in this forum. |

Ok Report!
You totally have to just walk the strip. Take the monorail to one end....either the stratusphere or the MGM and walk the length of the strip. Its fun to just walk in all of the casinos and see how they are a bit different. Walk inn the lobby's of the hotels...they are so amazing |

Its fun to just walk in all of the casinos and see how they are a bit different. Walk inn the lobby's of the hotels...they are so amazing Rent a car---And drive out to Hoover Dam and then old school downtown Vegas. The Golden Nugget is pretty cool (with a water slide that goes right through a shark tank!) Casinos----If you are on a budget try the sahara---$1 poker, $1 hot dogs....plus they have a video roulette game that you can play with $.25 its a great way to just play around....we actually won $100's on this game! Food---So many options...our favorite was in Paris It was a little sandwich shop that sold really cool french sandwiches. Hotels---We stayed at the Hilton Grand on the Strip--only because a friend has a time share....jump on priceline or hotels.com and book something. The stratsophere was a fun night stay but next time we would stay that the mirage or luxor or something more centrally located Dont buy drinks!---They are free at every casino! Bellagio fountains are amazing--- Skip the Treasure Island show HOW WAS THAT??? |
