Has anyone dined at this place over at the Forum Shops and can give some overview?

Is Sushi the only items off the menu that is highly recommended or do they have other hot dishes (i.e. tempura, udon, teriyaki, etc) that is also worth the order? And how vital is it to make reservations (there will be five of us) as oppose to just walk-in in hopes of quickly getting a table?

They have more than sushi. We went for lunch in 2008 with reservations but we were, for most of an hour, the only patrons dining.

The sushi is decent and the hot items were hit and miss. Being from Vancouver (and being taken to many top sushi restaurants in Tokyo by my relatives) my standards for sushi are high. I still feel that Shibuya at MGM Grand is a better option.

Reservations at Shibuya are a must. Perhaps so for dinner at Sushi Roku.

Assuming Shibuya has a sushi bar, is a reservation for the sushi bar needed for a solo diner? Thanks!

There have been some changes to the menu since we were there (fortunately, I don't see a lot of the stuff we DID NOT like on the menu anymore).

However, the items we liked were:

Crudo Roku - a sampler of their crudo/sashimi
Miso Dengaku Eggplant
Baked Cod with Saikyo sweet miso (I think Nobu's is still better but....)
Popcorn Rock Shrimp

The sushi rolls are decent (rice on our visit was a little too sticky) and some of their more creative ones are fun to eat.

We went for lunch so a dinner may be slightly different and more happening.

Shibuya has a sushi bar and I think there is a good chance a solo diner can get a seat weeknights and perhaps early or late on a weekend, if you are lucky. Of course, if there are a lot of conventions going on, I cannot speak to that.

Everytime we have gone, be it weeknight or weekend, for a reservation between 6pm and 7pm, all tables were booked. I did not ask about the sushi bar

This place has good lunch specials if that interests you.

My wife and I did lunch at Roku last month and I wasn't blown away. Nothing bad, just average/good. Maybe my expectations were too high, or maybe they had an off day.

In the Caesars world, I much prefer Hyakumi, which is by Cleopatra's Barge. Not sure if it is the food, location/ambiance, or the rowdy attitude of the Chefs that makes it better, but I like Hyakumi more.

I think Okada (at the Wynn) is the best sushi town.

I rather go to Nobu, but that's me.

The most awful sushi I had ever had in Las Vegas was at Hyakumi -- the fish was okay but the rice was absolutely horrid. Gummy, sticky, and too sweet the rice ruined the fairly expensive meal.

Nobu was just average for a Nobu -- nowhere near as good as NYC, London or Matsuhisa.

I hope to be able to try Okada and/or Yellowtail this time around.

Been to Okada 3x, most recently in September. Great food, gorgeous room, and phenemonal service.

We had a late dinner at Sushi Roku a couple years ago. It was very good (we ordered a variety of rolls), and the Strip view is pretty cool, but service was slow, IMO.

a friend had sold her house in the San Francisco area and was driving the last UHaul load to Boulder CO, she stopped by our rental home for a day of rest/relaxation. We all went to Sushi Roku and had a mostly delicious meal.

We had:

Spicy Cucumber Sunomono
Seaweed Salad
Green Beans �Ingen Itame�

Hamachi Serrano
Toro Carpaccio

Sushi Nigiri choices:
Unagi
Toro
Mackerel

Our friend request an all crab roll (real crab)

The weakpoint was the unagi, usually unctuous, the unagi we had was of very poor quality,
The Hamachi Serrano was drowning in ponzu, and I think it was sitting awhile before they brought it to our table, with a little restraint this would have been a stellar dish.
The custom crab roll was good, I just prefer crab other ways.

Everything else was excellent, we re-ordered the Toro carpaccio to finish the meal.

Our friend treated us to the dinner as a thank you for hosting her overnight and both her/her boyfriend the weekend prior. I did notice after the meal that Sushi Roku is part of the InKind dining platform program. I'm not smitten with InKind but here are some really good values to be had with InKind. Tojo's in Vancouver was the first sushi restaurant where I enjoyed Omakase (MANY years ago)
