First Class/First Class Sleeper using Ultimate Reward?

Hello all, I've searched on flyertalk but could not find a direct answer. If I transfer my UR points to Skypass, can I redeem for First Class Sleeper seats on A380/77W or only the First Class seats?

From the award chart, flying from Korea to North America is 160K for First Class Sleeper and 140K for First class. I would want to make sure that I can get the First Class Sleeper seat on A380 before I transfer UR points.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Ya u can get the a380 kosmo suites if u have enough points.

Just make sure there is availability on that day.
Usually there is for first class.
Check on the Korean air website.

U can also do one way awards for half price.

Also have to factor in the award fees which is about $300.

Thanks for the quick reply! We will do one way from ICN-LAX and using UA miles to fly from LAX-ICN via Asian to see the different between these two.

It's also good to know the award (fuel surcharge) fee is around $300 between NA and Korea. Does the award fee calculate in half if I book only one-way so the fee is $150 instead of $300?

I have a similar question as well. I am looking to get a F seat from JFK - ICN - NAN and return from SYD-ICN- JFK. Does anyone know how many Skypass miles I would need? I tried playing with the tool but since I don't have any miles in the account, I can see for sure. I know there is an award chart but I'd rather be sure before I transfer the points and realize I don't have enough. I would also appreciate it if someone could give me a sense of what the taxes would look like.

Thanks!

Mine was about $300 just one way!
It's pricey...

Dont know if the fee would be different coming back from ICN.

Another thing is to check that your travel dates are off-peak, otherwise, you have to pay 50% more in miles.

From North America to Oceania is 240k miles off-peak roundtrip in First sleeper.

Not sure which region NAN would be considered in.
Probably Oceania, i would think.

Best to call up KE and ask them to be sure.
Dont know how much the fees would be.

Great Thread!

I took am looking at JFK - ICN - BKK one way using the 380 in F and also the 777 in F to BKK. Not bad for 95k miles + $300ish.

I also have chase UR points that I intend to use for this.

For the return I would love to to TG F via Europe using UA miles.

I did a dummy booking one way from JFK to BKK in F and the YR came to $200. Add in all other taxes and you get around $300 one way.

Basically it seems Korean charge fuel surcharges on awards but they seem relatively reasonable.

There is very little difference (in miles) between the first class and the kosmos suites quite unlike Singapore where they make their suites unaffordable or should i say un bookable especially for non SQ partners

Award Travel

You can always call them ahead and HOLD the reservation to make sure they have the flight/seat you are looking for, BEFORE you transfer over any UR points.

Is there any way to check online without calling? I tried using the KA website but it won't give me availability unless the miles are already in the account and DL doesn't show F only B.

Any other options that are free?

I apologize if this has already been answered previously.

Not really. Delta will show space if KE has made it available to them in Economy and Business but only a subset of what is offered to SkyPass members.

I can check F availability via Expert Flyer.

One thing to remember, it costs the same 80k one way (off peak) for kosmo sleeper and kosmo suite. You will have to find your correct airplane, if you want to make sure you get the suite. You can find the airplanes on koreanair.com ALSO...if you use ICN as a stopover, they allow for the free stop over. I'm doing a LAX-HKG this coming summer via CX F, and then swing over to HKG-ICN (stop over for 3 days)-LAX for 80k one way in kosmo suite and about $250 in fees.
