Positioning Flight Question

I have an award flight I booked through Virgin Atlantic on the Korean Air Flight from Boston to Seoul. However, my final destination is Tokyo. If I book my Seoul-Tokyo flight on Korean Air, would I be able to check in for both flights in Boston and check my bags to Tokyo?

Possibly. Ensure that your arrival into Seoul and departure from Seoul are both at ICN, a lot
of Seoul-Tokyo flights departs from GMP.
Most Asian airlines will through-check on different PNRs.
