upgraded to exit row?

Having boarded my economy seat on an AMS-ATH flight recently, an FA came up to me and asked if I would like a seat with more room. I thought I was getting a Platinum upgrade to biz so I lept up...only to find her standing well behind me in the exit row. It was appreciated, but I can honestly say I've never had such an op-up.

On the return I got a proper op-up to row 2.

Maybe biz was full already, so the FA did the best she can to make your trip more pleasant. This happened to me before on a ZRH-AMS Cityhopper.

I think there were empty seats in biz. My guess was that they needed someone to sit in the exit row to operate the doors in case of emergency and they looked for the first Platinum member.

Don't complain... the exit seats are better than ES!! Plus if it was trattoria time.. you got the better deal

I've refused an "upgrade" before to ES in favour of my exit seat.

Actually the food was very good on the return in ES. Surprisingly excellent in fact. Maybe because the flight is over 3 hours? It wasn't anything like what I get on shorter runs.

aren't they doing the seat choice trial to ATH and BCN?

In any event, you should have understood the trick because Europe Select doesn't offer more room than Economy.
