The KLM Nepotism Circus was in out in force again on my flight yesterday. After doors had closed I saw one passenger being moved up to WBC, who was then visited by someone who was already in WBC. Remarks like "Waar relaties al niet goed voor zijn," confirmed my suspicion. "Is toch veel beter zo!" They chatted with another two passengers in WBC and the cabin crew also spent a fair amount of time during the flight with them.

The upshot: the passenger next to me, who was clearly on his first ever trip in WBC, did not get an appetizer. The FA said there'd been a mistake in the catering. So sorry. So people getting nep-ops get the food, but paying passengers don't. My neighbor was very gracious about it and still enjoyed his flight, and I didn't want to spoil the experience for him by pointing out to him what had happened. He got a box of chocolates as compensation just before landing although he had declined any of the chocolates earlier when they came around after dessert.

I'd write a letter of complaint, except I wasn't directly affected, and secondly the reply I'd get probably will offer KLM's sincere regrets that my luggage was lost due to unforeseen weather conditions.
