Transfering files
I have a lowly 10k miles with little opportunity to increase this, and a search of the KLM site doesn't show much that I can do with this. I've searched the pages here too, and couldn't see any transfer possibilities.
Is it at all possible to transfer these miles to another program? I am based in the UK, and so credit card bonuses are unlikely to work

No transfer possibility.
If you do occasionally fly to AMS, you can get 5 lounge vouchers with 10000 pts.
There are a number of discounted web-awards to AMS at 6250 pts one-way but none from Scotland at the moment.
Unless your miles are about to expire I would hold on to them for now.
Or, if you are feeling generous, you could donate them to charity (AirCares: in blocks of 5000)

make sure to get 2500 more miles. ( Avis has triple miles from Feb 1 to Mar 31 )
With 12500 miles you are able to book a Web@ward within Europe or a one way flight to a 50000 miles destination ( US+Caribbean )

Actually, If you have an address that would qualify you for a NWA account, then technically you have enough miles for two Roundtrip Intra-island Hawaiian awards.
