Discounts on upgrades are very seldom, right now I can remember two periods with discounts.
Shortly after Sep.11 all transatlantic upgrades were reduced by 50 % to 10000 FD points on both NW and KL, btw !
And last year upgrades on the AMS-YVR route were also reduced by 50%, in this case to 10000 FD miles !

They used to do these regularly in the old Royal Wing days but since the new improved program I have only noticed one
