Any Thoughts?

With to likely but not definite take over of KLM by Air France, (For thats what I feel it essentially is), any thoughts about their very different FF programmes?

For instance:

Will residents of different countries be pushed into one or other program, a bit like KLM NWest at the moment?

What about upgrading with points? At Air France this is only available from full fare? (Should I quickly spend some points!?).

What do you all think?

All the promotional material has said, "In April KLM will become an integrated member of Sky Team". This surely means that it is possible to earn miles on all the airlines and their partners and as a result passengers can chose which program they will join.

Both programs are so different from each other that it is fairly safe to say that chaos would ensue with members of each program wanting to swap to the other program for their preferred benefits, if this would be an option. Not to mention the "Air France lets me do this why wont KLM?", or the other way around.

It would not surprise me if both the Frequence Plus (?) and FD programs were merged into a completely different and new program created specifically for this merger. If April is really going to be the date for this then the management of both airlines must be working overtime trying to sort out the logistics of this or else what is supposed to be a positive move is simply going to alienate and irritate all members of both airlines.

It is hard to stay positive when there is no info given to us but I just hope that whatever happens, we don't end up loosing any benefits that we already have.

If they hope to save some 500 million annually after the merger, I am sure one FFP should do the trick.
I still think the numbers are way too high, so one FFP ( with all the infrastrucure )could be the logical victim early on.

Beside that they do a terrible job ( as always ) to keep us updated on the process of a possible Sky Team integration.

If they decide to keep the AF programm, * should open a new department for comp requests from FD members...

And how many FD members pay full fare for the tickets so they can upgrade ??

Me thinks the muck will hit the fan as I have heard that AF are really putting their foot down of the FF programme
